Pickaway County Family and Children First Council Meeting March 15, 2012 ESC

Minutes from the January 19, 2012 meeting were reviewed. Attendance was missing. A motion was made to approve the minutes as submitted with the addition of attendance by Dave Hannahs with a second by Ty Ankrom. Motion passed unanimously.

A motion was made by Dave Hannahs with a second by Ty Ankrom. Motion passed unanimously.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Finance A reference to the finance reports was made. The budget was discussed and a motion was made by Pam Hively to accept the finance report. It was seconded by Connie Hardesty.. Motion passed unanimously.

ECCC

Debbie Hoffman announced that the next meeting is January 20, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 12:20 PM. They discussed school readiness, Race to the Top Grant, and discussion on the Month of the Young Child.

Teen Task Force

Michele Treber reported on the success of “Real World Real Money”. There is also a library workshop on “How Much Babies Cost and What they sacrifice.

Parent Advisory

A reminder was made that the Advisory group meets the first Thursday of the month at the YMCA at 6:30p.

PROGRAM REPORTS

TEAM for Youth

There was 1 new referral in January-February. Currently no residential placements, providing support to all families in the home. Many families in the program are not stable.

Help Me Grow

There were 22 new referrals. 3 Home Visits. Still waiting on funding (Just waiting on answers.)

Children’s Trust Fund

The Incredible Years Parenting program started Jan. 24, 2012 at the Ashville Head Start building. They have 5 participants. On April 17 the Circleville sessions started at the Circleville Head Start Building. The first session finished in Jan. 15 participants went through with good reviews.

OLD BUSINESS Regionalization

FCFC has one year to create a regional structure or the State will mandate the region. Questions were pondered: “Do we align with Help Me Grow?” How do we collaborate services?” The executive committee will meet to discuss regionalization.

Donations

Schools and Agencies donated funds to carry over until state funding is received. Carry over funds will stop in July.

NEW BUSINESS

Children Trust Fund Application

A motion was made to approve money and application by Lisa Johnson with a second by Joy Ewing. Motion passed unanimously.

Administrative Agent Designation

ESC is considering the responsibility of administrative agent for FCFC. The ESC will charge administrative fees. ADAMH Board has offered to be the administrative agent if ESC declines. The executive committee will meet to appoint the administrative agent.

AGENCY UPDATES

 April 28th is the one mile walk for diabetes .

 YMCA had 60 participants in Healthy Kids directed to home school kids.

 Down syndrome parent support group for Pickaway and Ross counties meet the first Tuesday of every month, 6:30 – 8:00 PM, at First Tyler Methodist Church, Chillicothe.

 The 5K walk/run for DSACO is on May 5th, 8:00 AM, at Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center.

 Haven House is selling T-shirts to raise funds. They are willing to participate and set up a table at any provider fair. Contact Lisa.
