AIDS Walk South Dallas - Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. The AIDS Walk South Dallas is a 5K walk/run designed to inspire, educate and galvanize the community of South Dallas and surrounding areas bringing awareness and to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS. This event takes place on Saturday, March 26, beginning at the MLK Center. Be the Vote! - Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. The Martin Luther King Community Center is having a voter registration drive on Saturday, April 2 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to encourage the community to Be the Vote! Special partners include 97.9 the Beat radio station and former Dallas City Council member Diane Ragsdale. This event is free and open to the public. The 3rd Annual Remembrance Service - Monday, April 4, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center will honor the life and legacy of Dr. King on the anniversary of his assassination during the 3rd Annual Remembrance Service on Monday, April 4 at 5:00 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center. Program highlights include the Billy Dade JROTC, Reverend Edwin Robinson with Faith in Texas, the Jackson Twins, and MasterMime of Dallas, Texas. This event is free and open to the public. An “All White” Multicultural Affair - Friday, May 27, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. The "All White" Multicultural Affair is a fundraiser for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center & its Social Services Program, which provides financial assistance to more than 29,000 families annually in the form of food, utility, & rental assistance. This event takes place on Friday, May 27 from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at the Women's museum, located at 3800 Parry Avenue. Guests can enjoy a fashion show sponsored by the Modeltude Agency, live performers, an art exhibit, vendors, food, drinks and music. White attire is required.
