All participants must be aware of their own and others safety at all times and must not take part in any unsupervised or unplanned activities outside those described by this risk assessment. All people under the age of 16 must be accompanied at all times during the tour, but short unsupervised activities may sometimes be undertaken upon the authority and instruction of the Eco Centre staff member At these times the group must be supervised by teacher/leader/aren’t or carer at all times and the designated area must not be left under any circumstances. Games undertaken during the tour may include ‘Worm Charming’, ‘Moths & Bats’, ‘Canyon Crossing’ ‘Team Building’, ‘Matchbox Collection’, the ‘Habitat walk’ and the ‘Sensory Trail’ amongst many others. All participants must refrain from starting games unless supervised by a member of Eco Centre staff. People may be split into groups to take part in the games but each group must be led by a responsible person at all times and this leader is responsible for the safety of each person within their group. No person is allowed to leave the designated activity area and at no times is anyone allowed to leave the paths, this could result in serious injury and damage to areas important to wildlife. Hazards are many and varied o vigilance must be maintained at all times by groups leaders, staff and parents/carers . Children should be briefed about the dangers surrounding animal by-products (poo) and must not touch any items that may be contaminated by animal droppings Hands must be washed thoroughly after this activity and before any other activity takes place Taking part in the activities at the Centre and being outdoors is inherently dangerous, and although we have taken every step possible to make the Centre as safe as it can be, we cannot be held accountable for dangerous or irresponsible behaviour and the incorrect use of tools or other equipment. Parents, carers, teachers and group leaders hold ultimate responsibility for the people within their care. Paths are the safest way to move around the Centre and all users must stay on the paths at all times unless told to do otherwise by a member of the Eco Centre staff team. If an area is cordoned off or safety/information/directional signs are seen, they must be followed, the Eco Centre is an adult work place and presents many different dangers, any work areas must be kept away from at all times to prevent injury or worse occurrences
