Official Sanpete County Sheriff’s Program Director/Therapist Job Opening Notification

The Sanpete County Sheriff’s Office is currently recruiting for a Program Director/Therapist to administer treatment programs to offenders in the Sanpete County Jail. This position is a civilian, non-merited position as a Program Director/Therapist and the following is required, but not limited, to:

Licensure:

 Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or PhD Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist or Professional Counselor in the State of Utah as per UCA 52-60-103 with no less than three (3) years experience working with adult sexual offenders. o Attach documentation to application  Must become an approved provider/affiliate with the Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) and maintain approval while working with UDC offenders in the Sanpete County Jail.

Approved Provider Requires:

 Hours of direct clinical experience over the past three years to include a minimum of 1500 hours, with 375 hours of sex offender evaluation. This should be a direct evaluation experience such as: supervision exclusively focused on sex offender assessment or evaluation; progress reports; progress interviews; administration and/or interpretation of risk assessment instruments, PPG, and other psychological or sex-specific testing utilized in a psycho-sexual evaluation. o The treatment evaluation experience should be attached to this application.  Within three years immediately preceding application for approval as a sex offender treatment provider, the applicant has at least 40 hours of formal training through documented conferences, symposia, seminars or course work directly related to the evaluation and treatment of sex offenders. Training may include behavioral/cognitive therapy methods, reconditioning and relapse prevention, use of plethysmograph examinations (the exam should use audio stimuli only, no visual, until approved otherwise), use of polygraph examinations, group therapy, sexual dysfunction, victimology, couples and family therapy, rick assessment, sexual addiction, sexual deviancy, and ethics and professional standards. Thirty of these 40 hours must be sex offender treatment specific. o Attach records documenting compliance  List any criminal convictions, licensing actions, ethical questions or complaints o Attach records documenting the above  Attach a complete description of your treatment program, clearly identifying the Intake, Standard and Intensive components and aftercare.  Must pass a UDC background check

Job Description

 Provide Inpatient Sex Offender Therapy for offenders housed at the Sanpete County Jail.  Provide other jail programs as directed by the Sheriff  Ability to work with custody and clinical staff regarding offender management and aid in establishing a therapeutic milieu  Provide leadership and inter-agency collaboration to work with other agencies in the coordination of treatment plans for offenders  Must complete New Hire training and yearly in-service training  This position requires direct contact with inmates with an officer’s supervision.

The salary was determined by the Sanpete County Sheriff and County Commissioners at $22.00 per hour plus benefits. Benefits include State Public Employee Retirement, medical and dental insurance, paid vacation, paid holidays, sick leave, 401k options, and long-term disability.
