Hearthstone Club Constitution
Article I
Name:
Section 1: This organization shall be known as the Hearthstone Club of Westfield State University.
Article II
Purpose:
Section 1: The Hearthstone Club is based around Blizzard Entertainment’s hit strategy card game, Hearthstone. This club is intended to foster a social environment for students in which we collectively utilizing our academic tools (e.g., mathematics, business strategy, competitive sports, etc) to compete as a team in Hearthstone.
Article III
Membership:
Section 1: Membership shall be open to all full-time and part-time undergraduate students of Westfield State University who have paid their student activities fee for the current academic semester.
Section 2: Members are considered to be active if they attend and participate in fifty- percent (50%) of the club’s meetings.
Article IV
Officers:
Section 1: The club shall have the officers of president, vice president, finance officer, and secretary. Section 2: The president shall preside over club meetings in the role of moderator and be responsible for disseminating club announcements to members. The vice president shall serve in the same capacity in the absence of the president and is responsible for maintaining an up-to-date club member list. The finance officer is responsible for the accounting of club funds. The club secretary shall create a summary of each meeting to be posted on the club’s webpage and keep track of club membership. Section 3: Officers shall be selected during the club’s first meeting each academic year. Section 4: All club members are eligible to hold a club office. (Add “active” to be before “club members”) Section 5: The term of office for each officer is one academic year. However, if an interim club officer is selected, the appointment only lasts until the end of the current academic year.
Article V
Advisors:
Section 1: The club advisor can be any faculty, staff, or librarian that has interest in the game Hearthstone. Section 2: The club advisor shall expedite the election of club officers, recruit guest speakers, and promote the club. The advisor shall also serve as a liaison to campus administration in conjunction with the club president.
Article VI
Elections:
Section 1: All club members may nominate themselves or another club member for an officer position. Section 2: Voting will be anonymously cast on paper ballets during the first or second meeting each academic year. Votes shall be counted by the president who will only vote in the event of a tie. Section 3: No election may be held if there is not a quorum of fifty percent (50%) of the club members plus one (1) present at the meeting. Section 4: The president will vote only to break a tie.
Article VII
Meetings:
Section 1: The Hearthstone club shall meet no less than once (1) per month. Section 2: Officers may, at their discretion, hold meeting among themselves to determine the management and direction of the club. The club president may also call for additional social meetings of the entire club. Section 3: Any club officer may call for a meeting of the officers. Only the club president and advisor may call for meetings of the entire club. Club members may propose additional meetings.
Article VIII
Vacancies:
Section 1: In the event of a vacant office, the club shall immediately vote to replace the officer during the next meeting. Voting and nomination follow stated club rules. Section 2: In the event of a vacant office, the club shall immediately vote to replace the advisor during the next meeting. Voting and nomination follow stated club rules.
Article IX
Amending Procedure:
Section 1: This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the voting members of the club and if approved by the Rules and Regulations committee of the Student Government Association.
Article X
Removal from office:
Section 1: Any club member may propose a vote of “no confidence” in an officer. A vote will then be cast by all club members in which the officer is voted to stay or be removed. A majority vote of removal shall remove the officer. This vote must occur with a quorum of the club present Section 2: Any club officer may propose a vote of “no confidence” in the club advisor. A vote will then be cast by all club officers in which the advisor is voted to stay or be removed. A majority vote of two-thirds (2/3) shall remove the advisor. This vote must occur with a quorum of the club present
