NEWNAN COUNTRY CLUB (Scramble) WHITE OAK GOLF COURSE (Best Ball)

Best Ball - Each member of the team will play their own ball as in Stroke Play. The team member with the lowest net score records that score for the team score. It is not necessary to play your ball out when your partner is in the hole and you cannot beat her score.

Scramble - Each member of the team hits a shot from the tee. The team then selects the best shot and both team members hit from that spot. Continue this process until the ball is holed out.

GENERAL INFORMATION 1. Ties for the Team Competition will be broken in 3 Holes increments using Best Ball scorecards beginning on Hole #1 and continuing in this manner until the tie is broken. 2. Tees will be marked with GSWGA markers and GSWGA flags will mark Hole placements on greens. 3. Spectators are allowed but they should stay on cart path, observe the rules and etiquette of golf, not coach, give advice, or interfere with or delay play.

TOURNAMENT START TIME: Tuesday, 10 a.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. 1. The driving range will open each day at 7 a.m. on both courses 2. Instructions for the Tournament will be given by the club professional approximately 30 minutes prior to the Tournament start time.

SCORECARDS: A member of each team is responsible for turning in their team scorecard immediately following completion of play and verifying the scores as entered on the card. Scorecard will not be accepted from a non-team member.

AWARDS CEREMONY: The Awards Ceremony will be held at Newnan Country Club immediately following completion of scoring on the second day of the tournament. RULES Rules of play shall be governed by the USGA Rules Manual except for those general rules of GSWGA as outlined below.  Players are required to switch cards prior to start of play.  The embedded ball rule shall be in effect through the green.  Cell phone usage is not permitted during competition or while on the course, other than for GPS.  USGSA approved range finders and GPS are permitted.  Ball may be improved one club length in player’s own “fairway”.  Disqualification: Failure to report to designated tee box at start time; refusal to exchange scorecards; failure to sign scorecard; playing a hole out of sequence; signing incorrect scorecard for a score on a hole that is lower than the actual score unless it is due to a failure to include one or more penalty strokes according to USGA Rule 6-6d  Doubt as to procedure: Play a second ball and announce it; keep score and finish with both balls; request a ruling before attesting scorecard.  Accidental Movement of a Ball on a Putting Green: USGA Rule 18-2, 18-3, and 20-1 are modified as follows – When a player’s ball or ball-marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, an opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment—the moved ball or ball-marker must be replaced as provided in Rules 18-2, 18-3 and 20-1.  Provisional Ball: Play only if it is most likely that the first ball is either out of bounds or lost. A provisional ball may not be played if the first ball most likely is in a water or lateral hazard.

The Rules Committee, Tournament Chairman and Co-Chairman, Club Professional shall settle any questions which arise during play. If necessary, the Executive Committee shall make the final decision.

Play is governed by the 2017 USGA Rules of Golf and its decisions, and the following local rules: 1. Out of Bounds: Defined by white stakes and any ball that comes to rest on or across a public road is considered out of bounds even if it comes to rest on another part of the golf course. 2. Water Hazards: Defined by yellow lines and designated by yellow stakes. In the absence of lines, the stakes both identify and define the hazard. 3. Lateral Water Hazards: Defined by red lines and designated by red stakes. In the absence of lines, the stakes both identify and define the hazard. 4. Movable Obstructions: Removal of Stone/Rocks from Bunkers is allowed by Rule 24- 1. 5. Permanent Elevated Power Lines and Towers/Poles/ Cables supporting such lines on the course. If a ball strikes such, the stroke shall be canceled and the ball MUST be replayed without penalty in accordance with Rule 20-5. 6. Range Finders: Approved by the USGA are allowed. (No slope and wind detection allowed) 7. Players should ensure that electronic devices do not distract fellow competitors. 8. Lifting an Embedded Ball: The “Embedded Ball through the Green Rule” is in effect. 9. 14 club limit is in effect. 10. Provisional Ball: If a ball may be lost outside a water hazard or O.B. The player may elect to play another ball provisionally, but must inform his fellow competitor(s) of his intentions and must play before going forward to search for the ball. 11. Abnormal Ground Conditions: Relief is granted for BALL ONLY from any run off, around cart paths or loose particles. Nearest point of relief no closer to the hole.
