Fort Worth, TX, March 10, 2014 – While we all know that one man’s trash can be another man’s treasure, have you ever thought that it could also be another man’s music? If you’ve ever seen a Vocal Trash performance you know this to be true. Using clever one-of-a-kind upcycled instruments, their music-with-a-message inspires audiences to step-up their recycling efforts. Vocal Trash’s lead singer, Kelsey Rae Shaw, has taken this a step further in her new children’s book, THINK … Before You Throw It Away.
In THINK … Before You Throw It Away, we meet 10-year-old Claire. Claire is adventurous and thinks playing near the landfill is a thrill. She meets unusual friends, and soon discovers the importance of upcycling instead of throwing things away. Her new friends are actually inanimate objects that she makes into musical instruments and their personalities match that of the real Vocal Trash group.
“The story allows us to imagine a world where the things we love can live forever through recycling and upcycling,” says Kelsey Rae. “By making better choices, we can make a positive impact on our environment.”

About the Author Kelsey Rae has been entertaining audiences since she was 5 years old when she was the spunky orphan, Molly, in the Tony Award-winning musical, Annie. Since then, she’s starred in more than 30 stage productions and was even offered a spot on the beloved Mickey Mouse Club the year that Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears debuted on the show. Instead, she opted to take a role in Gypsy and followed her dreams to Broadway.
