1 Diabetes Canada - Food skills for families/seniors $5,000 Project provides two six session healthy cooking workshops for low income seniors, families, youth and new immigrants. 2 Dundas Valley Orchestra - The DVO at 40! $5,000 To support the 40th anniversary concert of the Dundas Valley Orchestra in 2018. 3 Dundas Valley School of Art - Aging Artfully Outreach Program $10,000 The program will be offered to seniors residing at St. Joseph's Villa and Wentworth Lodge once a month over one year. 4 Dundas Youth Chaplaincy - Routes Youth Centre $13,200 Support for the Routes Youth Centre. Routes provides drop-in and support programs for youth at risk in the community of Dundas. 5 Food4Kids Hamilton Halton Niagara - New Beginnings $5,000 To establish a Food4Kids program at two Dundas schools. Each program will include the weekend backpack component as well as a summer feeding component. 23 children will be in the weekend program and 13 children will receive summer food bins. 6 Global Peace Center Canada - Youth4Peace Leadership in $10,000 Dundas Initiative will train and support 20 young people from the Dundas community through training and mentorship to develop cross- cultural understanding and skills. They will host three boot camps which are each three days in length over the year. On-line training and a "mini conference" will also be part of the initiative. 7 Hamilton Conservation Foundation - Outdoor environmental $10,000 education To support the Outdoor Environmental Education program in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area for elementary and secondary school students. 8 Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (2000) Inc. - Dundas $9,600 senior and student programming To provide orchestral activities and services to seniors and students in Dundas. The initiative includes both performances and presentations by the Composer-in-Residence for seniors. Students will have two school workshops and one community recital. 9 Skills for Change - Bridging the gap: Reducing isolation through $15,000 training and support Initiative is an intergenerational learning program which provides technology training to older adults. The applicant has a formal partnership with Blackadar Retirement Residence for training and workshops. A minimum of 15 workshops offering one-on-one training will be offered. 1 St. Joseph's Villa Foundation - Enhancing care $15,000 0 To support the purchase of equipment to improve the quality of life for residents of St. Joseph's Villa. 1 St. Mark`s United Church - Accessible audio visual project $10,000 1 To purchase a system of audio visual equipment to provide enhanced service particularly to seniors and people with disabilities. 1 Student Open Circles - Volunteer placement with community $3,000 2 volunteer circles Project will build the capacity of the Stewards of Cootes Watershed through recruiting, supporting, training and supervising university student volunteers. 1 Telling Tales - Reading campaign 2017-18 $3,000 3 SPONSORSHIP by Rotary Club To assist in raising numbers of children able to access the Telling Tales Festival and to increase the annual school contest for Dundas schools. 1 The Salvation Army Hamilton - Ellen Osler Home bathroom $10,000 4 renovation project The Ellen Osler Home has undertaken renovations to ensure the building is safe and comfortable for its residents. This grant will assist with the renovations of a number of bathrooms within the home. 1 The Salvation Army Hamilton - Food bank $15,000 5 To support the Salvation Army Community and Family Services centre in Dundas. The centre provides material assistance such as food, clothing and household supplies for families and individuals in need. 1 Urquhart Butterfly Garden - Summer educational program $2,740 6 SPONSORSHIP by Conserver Society Support for the summer workshop and guided butterfly and bird identification walks at the Urquhart Butterfly Garden for 2018. 1 Victorian Order of Nurses - Hamilton Branch - Palliative $5,000 7 education and intravenous training certification for nurses Funding will allow for education/training for Dundas nurses in the areas of palliative care and intravenous training. 1 Youth and Philanthropy Initiative Canada - YPI at Dundas $2,500 8 Valley Secondary School To support the Y&P program at Dundas Valley Secondary School. The program supports youth to learn about philanthropy and includes a component whereby the students research and choose a local charity to receive a $5,000 grant.
