Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Project Identify a problem or concern on your assigned nursing unit which has a negative impact on some aspect of quality. Remember, the first step of CQI is to determine the standard; in your situation it has probably already been established. It may represent a financial problem or an interference with desired patient outcomes. The topic must be approved by your clinical supervisor and nurse manager of the unit prior to beginning project. After approval, identify research that has been published concerning your topic. A minimum of 3 references are needed, one of which must be a research article. You may identify a problem you have noticed on your unit or you may wish to participate in an ongoing quality improvement project. However, if you decide to participate in an ongoing project, you must have an independent piece to show how you contributed to the project and not just what others have done. DO NOT IDENTIFY THE AGENCY BY NAME. DO NOT IDENTIFY PATIENTS BY NAME (USE A CODE).

At the designated time in the course the student will be able to compose an abstract based on above criteria.
