THE LOWER GREAT SOUTHERN HOCKEY ASSOCIATIONCENTRE – WHO ARE WE?

Background History The Lower Great Southern Hockey Association Inc. (LGSHA) has member clubs from Albany, Mt Barker, Denmark, Manypeaks and the surrounding areas. The LGSHA was created in 1990 when the Lower Great Southern Men’s Hockey Association and the Albany Women’s Hockey Association merged.

Today The association has approximate 780 playing members across 60 teams from Year three students to Men’s Veterans. We also have a developing and growing Hook in 2 Hockey Program with approximately 30 children registered in 2015.

Location Located in Albany, Western Australia, the association is responsible for teams across a large geographical area. The LGSHA is run by a board of management with additional representatives from teams and clubs of the association. For more information on Albany go to www.amazingalbany.com.au

Since this time, the LGSHA has continued to grow and develop and strive to achieve the objectives of the plan. The plan is to be reviewed in 2015, ready for the 2016 playing season. HOCKEY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

The Position This is an exciting, fun part time position for someone who loves sport and in particular Hockey.

The role is to foster Junior hockey development in the Lower Great Southern (LGS) region including Hook in2 Hockey, school carnivals, skills clinics and support for representative teams and to support Senior hockey development in the LGS region including skills clinics and support for country week teams.

The Person we Seek We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who will work well with the board to grow and develop Hockey in the Lower Great Southern Region. The successful applicant will have experience in coaching, have great communication IT skills, be a self-starter and like a diverse role being able to effectively manage their time across a range of activities. The person will also be strong, resilient and positive, able to hear and manage a range of opinions and views on activities undertaken by the association.

The Recruitment and Selection Process  The position will be advertised from 24 June 2015 in a variety of media including local newspapers, Facebook and seek.com;

 Applicants selected for interview will be contacted to arrange an interview time;

 The interview panel will consist of a panel of two board members and a DSR representative;

 The successful applicant must provide a National Police Clearance prior to confirmation of appointment; and

NOTE: Appointment and Commencement do not occur until after police clearance and WWC card have been received by the Lower Great Southern Hockey Assn.

Conditions of Employment and Entitlement Summary Contract Position This is a contract position. The position and contract is offered based on the availability of ongoing funding during the contract period. The contract period will be set at 1 year, with a review to commence not less than six months prior to the expiry of the contract. It is possible for the contract to be extended or renewed dependent on the satisfaction of both the incumbent and the board of the Lower Great Southern Hockey Assn.

Police Clearance and Working With Children Employment in this position is subject to receiving (and maintaining) a National Police Clearance Certificate. A clearance must be current (not more than three months old)

Licence This position requires the incumbent hold a minimum of a current, “Class, Western Australian driving licence.

Wages The Hourly Rate of Pay is $22.29/hr. Hours and Award

 Occupation – Coach Grade 1

 Classification – Part Time

This is a part time position. Employed based on current funding arrangements. The current contract is for an average of 20 hours per week.

Overtime Due to the nature of the role, the award does not restrict hours of work so no penalty rates are paid for evening or weekend work.

Leave entitlements Personal Leave, Annual Leave and Public Holidays will be paid at an average of 4 hours per day, based on an average 20 hour week.

Vehicle Allowance A vehicle allowance of $0.78 / km will be reimbursed on completion and presentation of a log book. Vehicle allowance is not paid on travel to and from the DSR office or Hockey Stadium as your normal places of work. Travel to schools and other locations required for meetings, clinics etc. will attract vehicle allowance.

Dress Standard - Uniform It is required that the Hockey Development Officer will be appropriately attired for the role. The LGSHA will provide 3 LGSHA Polo Shirts and a LGSHA Jacket. The incumbent is expected to wear appropriate

Superannuation Superannuation contributions are paid at the required 9.5% (SGC)

Probationary Period A three month probationary period is applicable to this position. A three month review is conducted and at the successful completion permanency is confirmed. The Chairperson may extend the period of probation for a period of no longer than three months.

Work Reviews Work reviews and meeting will be conducted regularly in the first three months. An annual review will be undertaken by a representative/s of the Board.

Key Responsibilities

Junior Junior hockey development in the Lower Great Development Southern (LGS) region including Hook in2 Hockey, school carnivals, skills clinics and support for representative teams. Senior Senior hockey development in the LGS region Development including skills clinics and support for country week teams. Promotion Promotion of hockey in the region by communication with local media and facilitating visits by high performance teams, coaches and umpires. Administration Data : Support Hockeynet database and collect statistics (player & team numbers, success in state teams etc.) Timetabling: Support City of Albany with training bookings as required and in consultation with LGSHA Board. Reporting: Attend and provide report for LGSHA Board meetings (monthly). Annual report to Hockey WA and Department of Sport and Recreation.

Key Deliverables

Department of On an annual basis and with support from the LGSHA Board: Sport & Develop annual operations plan (with LGSHA Board) Recreation Develop partnerships (Active after school, Local Government Organisational Associations, Sports House, Noongar Sports, Great Southern Sustainability Secondary Schools Sporting Association, neighbouring associations) Funding Regular communication with Hockey WA & attendance at (GRTSTH Development Officer meetings SO8006) Develop & promote regional training calendar (with HWA) Organise and facilitate registration day(s) before season commences Deliver Hook in2 Hockey at a minimum of 3 centres Deliver 3 schools carnivals (2 primary school, 1 secondary school) Deliver skills clinics at 80% of primary schools in region Deliver skills clinics at 50% of secondary schools in region Deliver one specialist skills clinic (e.g. Goal Keeping) High Performance Pathways for regional athletes defined and promoted to hockey community Collect data of regional athlete success in state team selection Support Coaches Liaison and Umpire Coordinator to increase the number and quality of coaches and umpires in the region Collect data of accredited coaches and umpires Prepare Final Year report with summary of activities, reporting against Key Results Schedule in DSR Grant Agreement. Participation, Coach and Officials Development in conjunction with DSR grant (above) and meeting specific KPI’s of Hockey WA schedule.
