Monday – Jan. 30, 2012 The 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will begin the volleyball unit. The students will read the unit preview and discuss its content. The overhead volley will be introduced to the students through demonstration. Students will then practice in small groups using only the overhead volley. A modified game will be played following group practice. Tuesday – Jan. 31, 2012 The 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will have a lesson on My Plate. The lesson will be led by Ms. Laura White who works for the county extension office. The lesson will cover the new guidelines for nutrition for students. Wednesday – Feb. 1, 2012 The 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will continue volleyball unit. The bump will be explained, demonstrated and practiced by students. Students will then practice in small groups using the bump. A quick review of the overhead volley will be given so the students will understand the skill. There will be time to practice also. A modified game will be played using the bump and overhead volley. Thursday – Feb. 2, 2012 The 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will continue volleyball unit. The underhand and overhead serve will be explained, demonstrated and practiced by students. Students will then practice using the underhand serve. A quick review of the overhead volley and bump will be given so the students will understand the skills. There will be time to practice also. A modified game will be played using the underhand serve, bump and overhead volley. Friday – Feb. 3, 2012 6th, 7th and 8th grade students will have a health lesson today on basic first aide that students can use in emergency situations. **On each day that skills are introduced and practiced there will be a short video shown before that skill is taught.
