Grading Quarterly Exam 20% Tests/Quizzes/Projects 50% Homework/Participation 30%

**Expect homework most nights. Homework is like running laps for a sport or practicing scales on an instrument. It strengthens your math skills and will prepare you for tests and quizzes. Treat all assignments as learning opportunities. You want to figure out where you are struggling before the test so that you can ask for and receive help. Homework Policy  Use pencil.  Show work! Correct answers with no work may receive no credit.  Completed homework should be kept in your notebook/folder.  Full credit for excused absences will be given. Homework from an absence should be turned in following Board Policy. One day for each day of excused absence. Ex: If you miss school on Tuesday and return Wednesday-Monday’s hwk should be turned in on Wednesday and Tuesday’s hwk will be due Thursday along with Wednesday’s. Please make arrangements with me for extended absences. I will be flexible

Make-up Work It is your responsibility to make up any missed work. You need to ask for missed work at the beginning or end of class. Make-up work needs to be done on your own time, not during classroom instruction. Most homework is available on a weekly basis on the “homework calendar/grade sheet/daily warm ups/Learning Target” handouts given out each week. Please check the sheet displayed in the room for any possible changes.

Discipline Policy Tardiness: Be in your assigned seat and getting your materials out, when the bell rings.

*I expect that you have your homework out, grade sheet out and working on your warm-ups and completing your Learning Target when class starts. This will be an everyday practice!

Cell phones: Must be on SILENT not vibrate! Non-educational use of cell phones and other devices may result in office referrals and discipline.

Talking: There are times when talking is appropriate and encouraged during this class. Talking during tests and quizzes will result in a zero score. Talking during classroom instruction or about inappropriate subjects will receive a warning first, a phone call home second, and a detention the third time.

Cheating: Cheating on any assignment or test will result in a zero, along with a phone call home and referral to the grade level office Materials For this class you will need:  Paper  Text Book  PENCIL  Calculator: TI 30XIIS-preferred If at all possible, please purchase a calculator. I do have some that will be handed out on contract for individual use throughout the year. You will receive a textbook for the year. You are expected to bring this to class with you daily, along with all required materials.

Seniors-Please stay on top of your grades! Graduation depends on it!!!!!

Let’s look at where you are at and make sure you are in the right place!

Algebra 2-

Successfully completed Algebra 1 (with A’s and B’s), or completed Algebra 1 and Transition Math. Successful completion of Geometry is expected. If you received C’s in Algebra 1, this is a sign that you will really need to monitor your grades. Algebra 2 is college preparatory class and will require students to have a mature attitude and a desire to learn. This class (or equivalent) is required by the State of Ohio for graduation as well as FOUR credits of math.
