Promotional Video: “Mane Media” -- script to edit from to be added soon

You must have done camera training and taken the Camera Proficiency Exam before checking out a camera. If you score less than 60 on the Exam you must go through a tutorial again with the PA. This is PARTNER work. The more skilled person should explain what’s being done while letting the less skilled person perform the work, in both shooting and editing. The goal is not a production – it’s about learning to do it. WEEK ONE WORK.

A. TESTIMONIALS One of the partners must have an SDHC or SDXC card, Class 10, minimum 16 GB. Remember, make sure the camera is OFF when loading and unloading the card.

• Start by getting six or more people to speak on camera, in which they make statements of support about ‘Mane Media.’ Yiu may use anyone who can speak well on camera. Mane Media is our operation of a TV channel on Channel 3 on campus and in Commerce (KETV) AND our operation of an online radio station that can be heard on KETV and on the TuneIn app AND our operation of the Mane Media YouTube channel. Clip on a mic to each speaker and check your audio. Put a light on each person speaking. Make sure your camera is set correctly. Frame them up in a medium one-shot with a little look space, and where they are looking off camera at you, in objective point of view.

• Put each person in a different environment, with one at the mic in KKOM, one by a camera in the TV studio, one at an edit station, one at the switcher in the TV studio, and the others at similar ‘media looking’ backgrounds.

• Ask each person three standard questions while they’re on camera: (1) Why is it great when student media cover things on campus that students need to know about? (2) Why is it great when student media has a radio station that plays great music students want to hear? and (3) Why is it great when student media gets out and gets involved with the campus and what happens? Then ask each person at least one more question that you come up with. You’re wanting people to give you ‘testimonials’ of about :06 - :10 each that can go into your promotional video. You will be editing these clips out when it’s time to edit.

B. B-ROLL Get shots that demonstrate student media activities AND that show campus activities. You must have steady shots – on a tripod, with NO zooms and NO pans, except one or two specific ones that are motivated.

C. Work together to create a basic music bed in Garage Band. D. Decide if you would like to have one of you be a ‘spokesperson’ who speaks on camera, and shoot a short piece or two with the spokesperson addressing the camera, like for an open or closing bit, promoting Mane Media.
