Using brightly colored blocks, students model mathematical relationships and identify known and unknown quantities. The model provides students with a powerful image that organizes information and simplifies the problem solving process. By modeling increasingly complex word problems, students develop strong reasoning skills which will facilitate the transition from arithmetic to algebra. http://nsdl.org/search/results?n=10&s=0&verb=Search&include_collection[]=ncs-NSDL-COLLECTION-000- 003-112-088 This website allows you to search the subject and grade level to see Common Core lessons shared by other teachers. http://www.phschool.com/atschool/cmp2/active_math/index.html This website has interactive activities.
