A RESOLUTION Adjourning the Senate in Honor and Loving Memory of Elbert Gene Flaugher

A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Elbert "Gene" Flaugher. With deep appreciation for his service to the Commonwealth and to his community, we take a moment to pay our profound respect for Elbert "Gene" Flaugher. WHEREAS, Elbert "Gene" Flaugher, born August 6, 1930, in Lenoxburg, Kentucky, to the late Louie and Mayme Thome Flaugher, was a tireless public servant, devoting himself to the citizens of Pendleton County and the Commonwealth; and WHEREAS, Mr. Flaugher was a veteran of the United States Army, a small business owner, Foreman of the Pendleton County State Highway Maintenance Facility, Director of Prison Industries for the Kentucky Department of Corrections, and Mayor of the City of Falmouth for seven years; and WHEREAS, Mr. Flaugher served on the Pendleton County Board of Education for sixteen (16) years and was a devout member of the Falmouth Baptist Church, serving in many positions; and WHEREAS, on January 21, 2013, Mr. Flaugher passed away, leaving behind his beloved wife, Joyce (Sullivan) Flaugher; his son, Tim (Angie) Flaugher; his daughter, Tammy (Dean) Ammerman; his daughter, Jennifer Harper; his son-in-law, Phillip (Margaret) Harper; his grandchildren, Dawn (Jonathan) Thornberry, April (Jaime) Meadows, Barry (Monica) Ammerman, Cassandra (DJ) Jacobs, and Justin and Olivia

Flaugher; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Allen (MaeJo) Flaugher; his sister, Mary Sue Courtney; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Flaugher. Preceding Mr. Flaugher in death were his parents; three brothers, Bob, Charlie, and Pete; and one grandson; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

 Section 1. The members of the Senate, both individually and collectively, express their most profound and sincere condolences upon the passing of Elbert "Gene"

Flaugher to his family, friends, and community.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Elbert "Gene" Flaugher, who had an immeasurable impact on the citizens and their community in Pendleton County.

 Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Katie Stine for delivery to the family.
