QUESTION 7: PEER PRESSURE. Read and analyse the following case study about peer pressure and answer the questions that follow. [15]
Peter had been quite a lonely child. When his parents divorced, his father disappeared and left him and his mother to manage on their own. At school, his

These boys took him out to parties and gave him alcohol to drink. When Peter was drunk, he didn’t feel shy or sorry for himself. Later, Peter started taking drugs. He began pushing his new friends to fight with the others who had teased him before.
However, he was worried that his friends would not stay loyal to him. So he made them break into a shop and steal cash and goods together. Next, they hijacked a car and robbed and beat up the driver.
Peter is now in prison and will be there for the next seven years. He regrets trying to impress his older friends and hopes that those he hurt can forgive him one day.

[7] 9.1. “A personal diet plan is one that you design/plan to suit/fit your individual needs of nutrition and ensure that you eat healthy, balanced meals every day. (2) 9.2. Ecological factors: The environment and the manner in which food is produced should be a factor when we choose healthy food. Free of poisons and are not genetically modified. (1) Social factors: We tend to eat what others are eating. Friends and family may influence the choice of food you eat. Social occasions, such as birthday parties effect food choices. Peer pressure also has an influence to eat the same as the group. (1) Economic factors: This relate to the cost of food. Those who do not earn a lot of money are limited to their choice. People with more money will have a wider choice of food. (1) Cultural factors: Entail traditions practised over time. Some cultural groups have guidelines for food that is acceptable and what food is not allowed. These guidelines are often linked to religious beliefs. (1) Political factors: Concern the governments of countries, the trade agreements they have with other countries to import food and the laws they make regarding food. (1)
