Ozaukee County Half Pint Tiny Tots Showmanship Contest

The Ozaukee County Fair is just around the corner, and it is time for your tiny tot to get ready for the Tiny Tots Showmanship Contest sponsored by the Ozaukee County Farm Bureau Young Farmers! The contest will take place on Sunday August 2rd, 2015 P.M. at 2:30 in the show arena. There will be three classes: 4-5 year olds, 6-7 year olds, and 8-9 year olds. Children must be at least 4 years old at the time of the contest in order to participate. Participants and their families are responsible for finding calves to show. The calves must be at the fair by 2:00P.M. on Sunday and should be taken home right after the show, as there is no barn space available. Please sign in at the registration table in the show ring at least 20 minutes prior to the contest. Due to the amount of participates and limited space, we ask that all parents refrain from being in the show ring. There will be a designated area for you to stand and wait with your child. Also this is a good spot for pictures. There will be volunteers assisting your child in the arena. If you have two children in different classes they may show the same calf. If an older child is in 4-H and showing a calf of the proper age and size, it may be shown if the child is able to handle it. PLEASE be sure that the calf is appropriate size for your child’s safety. Preferably, we would like the calves to be born after February 1, 2015. The animal can be a heifer or a bull calf. . Children do not have to wear white . Calves do not need to be clipped . Children will be assigned a number to wear during show (will get at registration) . The contest will be judged by the 4-H Dairy Project showmanship winners . Children will be judged on how they hand the calf and basic showing skills . Judges may ask your child the name of the calf and it’s birthday. Older classes may be asked the sire (father) of the animal. You can get this information from your calf’s owner. The permission slip below must be signed by a parent or guardian and turned in no later than Saturday August 1, 2015 at 3:00P.M. or the child will not be able to participate. Please mail the signed form to Carla Paulus, or drop in the box located in the Cloverleaf Dairy Group display in the dairy barn by 3P.M. on Saturday.
