SPORT ENGLAND FACILITY GRANTS PROGRAMME FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS.

Primary Spaces opened to schools on 24 February 2014 and will close on 24 March 2014. The programme offers grants to Primary Schools for up to £30,000 to spend on a range of specially created packages which can be tailored to meet their needs.

The fund aims to help provide outdoor multi-sport areas which can be used both within the curriculum and out of school hours. As well as helping provide sports facilities, staff and volunteers at the school will receive information on how best to use the new facilities and equipment to help children get active.

Priority is given to those primary schools which currently have little or no outside space which can be used for P.E. or sports sessions.

To help applicants a Prospectus outlines a selection criteria. The main points are:

 The school must be able to show it has little or no outdoor space which can currently be used for P.E. and sports sessions, but that there is capacity for improvement. For example, a school may have a concrete playground that could be turned in to a multi- sport area.

 The school needs to demonstrate a commitment to P.E. and sport

If you think you meet the criteria then apply by 24 March 2014. It’s a tight deadline so don’t delay
