THE TRISTEN D. HOPKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND WAS ESTABLISHED SEPTEMBER 2010, AS A WAY TO HONOR THE LIFE AND MEMORY OF TRISTEN HOPKINS. THE SCHOLARSHIP ALSO HOPES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR STUDENTS WHO WISH TO PURSUE A HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE HOUSTON AND SURROUNDING AREAS. SPECIAL EMPHASIS WILL BE PLACED ON FINANACIAL NEED, COMMUNITY SERVICE INVOLVEMENT, AND ACADEMIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS. IF YOU ARE PURSUING A BACHELOR’S DEGREE AT AN ACCREDITED COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY, THE APPLICATION PROCESS WILL BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 1, 2014 AND WILL CLOSE ON FEBRUARY 1, 2015. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP, ALL REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR APPLICATION PACKAGE. THE APPLICATION PACKAGE MUST BE COMPLETE. The Tristen D. Hopkins Memorial Scholarship Criteria

The Tristen D. Hopkins Memorial Scholarship Fund will award scholarship(s) in the amount of $500.00, to graduating high school students. Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university to receive funds. Specific criteria for awarding the scholarship(s) are listed below. These criteria are non-negotiable. The application deadline is: February 1, 2015. All entries must be postmarked no later than February 1, 2015.

 Must meet the minimum GPA criteria of 2.5 or higher  Obtain Official Academic transcripts from high school  Student must be seeking a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and be enrolled full-time  Two letters of recommendation are required (one from school, and one from a non- family member)  Provide a 500 word essay on the topic “Why Education Is Important To Me?”  Provide a small photograph

If you are submitting your application via your school registrar, please submit at least two weeks prior to the due date to ensure timely receipt of your application.

A scholarship recipient who fails to maintain the eligibility requirements, or fails to complete the coursework during the semester for which the scholarship was awarded, is required to immediately notify the Tristen D. Hopkins Memorial Scholarship Board by writing to, The Tristen D. Hopkins Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 38591, Houston, Texas 77238. Your scholarship may require refunding. Please also be aware that income verification may be required. Scholarship is also contingent upon the recipient providing a letter of acceptance once received and proof of enrollment at a later date.
