History on the Internet

There many excellent resources for the study of history available on the Internet. Keep in mind, however, that not everything published on the Internet is reliable information. We should all be careful and use our commonsense when surfing the Internet.

One of the outcomes of a history class is to learn to look critically for signs that the information is trustworthy (for example, the use of citations that can be verified, accredited sources, a peer-reviewed journal). Always check the information you learn form online against reliable sources elsewhere (and that does NOT mean just checking two Internet sources because often one site just borrows information from another without checking the information first).
