1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO HONOR THE DARLINGTON COUNTY EXTRICATION 12 TEAM FOR ITS COURAGE AND COMMITMENT TO 13 FURTHERING THE RESPONSE CAPABILITIES OF LOCAL 14 EMERGENCY RESPONDERS, AND TO RECOGNIZE THE 15 TEAM’S MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS. 16 17 Whereas, the Darlington County Extrication Team is a nonprofit 18 organization comprised of volunteers committed to furthering the 19 response capabilities of local emergency responders to motor 20 vehicle collisions and other types of entrapments; and 21 22 Whereas, with funding only from personal and private donations 23 and fundraisers, these courageous team members purchase 24 specialty equipment not commonly available for emergency use, 25 provide training to local departments and industries, and increase 26 their own skills and knowledge through competitions and learning 27 symposiums; and 28 29 Whereas, having successfully tested their skills using the latest 30 vehicle and rescue-system technology, the team captured a 31 third-place overall finish in the November 2006 Transportation and 32 Emergency Rescue Committee National Competition and will 33 compete in the international competition in Indianapolis this year; 34 and 35 36 Whereas, truly representative of its county, the Darlington County 37 Extrication Team hosts members from the Hartsville Fire 38 Department, Darlington County Fire District, Lamar Rescue 39 Squad, Society Hill Rescue Squad, and Darlington County 40 Emergency Medical Services; and 41

1 [3598] 1 1 Whereas, current team members are Les Baker, Jason Bell, Jeff 2 Burr, Trey Watson, Brent Walters, and Timmy Martin; and 3 4 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 5 Representatives take great pleasure in honoring and expressing 6 heartfelt gratitude to such an outstanding group of dedicated 7 volunteers as the Darlington County Extrication Team for its 8 lifesaving contributions to the welfare of South Carolina’s citizens. 9 Now, therefore, 10 11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 12 13 That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of 14 South Carolina, by this resolution, honor the Darlington County 15 Extrication Team for its courage and commitment to furthering the 16 response capabilities of local emergency responders, and recognize 17 the team’s many accomplishments. 18 19 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 20 the Darlington County Extrication Team. 21 ----XX---- 22
