2. Job description
The job description is specific to each position and sets out the duties associated with the position. Use the job description to guide your choice of information to include in your claims against the selection criteria so that the selection panel can clearly see your suitability for this particular role. The Business Analyst plays a critical role in framing for a range of stakeholders their needs in context of process, business systems and information. This role identifies requirements aligning to the agency’s goals, program outcomes and stakeholders specific processes. The Business Analyst is required to be involved in assisting the design of change and therefore activities relating to business case development, process modelling, systems mapping and supporting key business initiatives. The business analyst also needs to be involved in facilitating business outcomes within the Innovation Hub. This role is required to travel between AUSTRAC work sites in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne as specified by operational requirements. .The Business Analyst reports to the Manager Business Analysis and Innovation Hub in order to support specific business analysis needs, stakeholder engagement and support various programs in the agency. The role may require supervision of staff. The Business analyst under limited direction is responsible for: providing advice to the agency’s Senior Executive and Leadership Group on a range of complex (technical) issues defining a program of work to achieve tangible and measurable business benefits providing internal consultancy support and facilitation services to elicit business requirements, articulate direction and facilitate the development of business contributing to the development of business knowledge, process maps, systems interfaces as well as various business scenarios and use cases contributing to and supporting the Innovation Plan which includes workshop facilitation and helping business areas generate novel ideas from complex problems and identifying new opportunities application of a structured business analysis, design and process improvement approaches for capturing the key views or lenses of the business process and user requirements capturing the tactical and strategic requirements that provide traceability through the change initiatives and business processes initiating, developing and reviewing complex written briefs and reports for the Minister and Senior Executives influencing stakeholders on the importance of and facilitate sound business objectives and requirements; excellent written and communications ability having a good understanding of agency wide strategic business framework, perspective, priorities and business linkages working closely with the business and other stakeholders to manage the strategic direction of the agency in relation to its business needs coupled with a system that can easily adapt to changing landscapes defining a vision and executing a plan to achieve outcomes in an uncertain environment representing the Agency on external forums mentoring junior staff in the BA discipline as required.

The Business Analyst will possess at a minimum the following skills/experience : high level specialist knowledge, the ability to visualise and create high-level models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the requirements and visualise solutions extensive knowledge and experience in understanding of technology development processes experience in the field of analysis and design in corporate and government business to ICT contexts.
