Feedback on Action Points :  Cyberbullying session arranged for students on Sunday 22nd Jan  A Governor has resigned their post on Governors, temporary member to be seconded from PTT. New Governor elections to take place Term 1 2017/2018.  Awaiting term 2 canteen menu approval from ADEC  Curriculum Video - Allison to reschedule filming for next week  Whiteboards – Classrooms and whiteboards are being measured and will be raised in G5 to G9  A Governor approached the BSAK team who will contact Al Basma PE Department to take forward any ideas  Other culture celebrations – Board is underway, will be reviewed every 2 months. All Jan and Feb events over the world will be displayed. 1.Personnel contract renewals Folder with Lesson observations and performance management information for all teaching staff who are up for renewal was given to Governors.

Mr Umar from secondary Maths department has resigned and has been replaced by Mr Mohammed from the UK, he is settling in very well.

A brief description about each staff member given and Governors shared any Teacher feedback they had received. An agreement reached about renewal offers. Renewals and offers to go out as soon as possible to establish number of vacancies and begin recruitment process.

For outstanding or very good teachers we will do what we can to retain them. Consistency and retention are our aim.

2. Allison’s Performance Management (PM)  A copy given out to Governors to read and review. Targets taken from self-evaluation feedback by all stake holders, areas for development in Leadership and Management inspection strand and inspection recommendations.  A copy to be emailed to Governors  ALL Governors - Any feedback on PM please email Allison

3. Calendar of events for Term 2 List of events given to all present Governors to review for amendments/additions – AP – VK - copy to be emailed to Governors. Need more opportunities for “weareone@albasma” T shirts – any ideas welcome  International week – each cluster/class will be different continents and countries, students have passports  Family Picnic  Create a Weareone@albasma day to wear T shirt  Older girls look at fund raising days / charity events – T shirts to be worn  20th March – International day of happiness  22nd March – World water day – preserving water – links to UAE and School to sustainability objectives  Any other ideas please inform Vikki

AP - 2017 year of giving – ideas for fund raising/charity events before the end of the school year. All Governors to think of ideas. Food banks – If they bring a tin they can wear their T shirts. Could link directly to “weareone@albasma” T shirts and contribution to society objectives.

Caring because we are sharing – work out the capacity of bags and can calculate the amount to show how much we have donated.

11th Feb – International woman and girls day in Science – Inform Head of Science Competitions with other schools  Inspectors will look at activities to enhance the curriculum eg enrichment etc.  After school off site sports competitions  Liaise with parents to see their opinion  If ADEC do not approve in trips portal we will not take it further Sports Day  Cannot take all students out to another sports function to do sports day, do not have the staff ratio.  Sports day needs to take place in school on different days using PE staff and homeroom teachers that we have.  All get to take part and linked back to the houses  A Governor is concerned that our students are not getting enough opportunity for extra- curricular activities  A Governor – As a parent it is very expensive to do extra-curricular activities in other schools, happy with the opportunities at Al Basma  AP - To discuss in PTT meeting and feedback

4. Term 2 priorities and development  Attendance and punctuality measures – more steps to address o Phone calls 3 day absence o Social worker at reception speaking to children and parents about impact of lateness o Leaflets at reception – given to anyone going beyond reception o Prize draws o Presentation to show cost of lateness/ poor attendance/early pick up

 BRIC transferred to new system – a lot quicker and now have more control and access rights. This is being updated/improved on a regular basis  Inspection Preparation

AP - VK - Parents Evening – email Governors to ask for reps AP – AMc/WW - Parent surveys – very good feedback. Will repeat survey for any more feedback AP – KP to liaise with Cris - G9 student surveys – will link to inspection

5. Confidentiality Statement All present Governors given a confidentiality statement to read and sign.

6.AOB 3 staff volunteers for BRIC Champion – AP – AMC/VK - training to be arranged Any grades without volunteers Anubhash will stay as point of contact.

AP – AMc – To find out if soft copies of students docs needs to be submitted by parents. Not sure if ADEC or school requirement. Maybe an uploading option to BRIC for parents to upload.
