12:00-12:20 pm – Opening Ceremony BioBlitz Organizing Committee LCC welcomes you to our 2nd BioBlitz!

12:30-2:00 pm – Ecology of Forest Mammals(Limited to 20 participants) David Zegers (Millersville University & Lancaster County Conservancy) A walk/talk about the importance of forest structure for small and medium sized mammals and a consideration of the significant roles of small and medium-sized mammals in our local forests.

12:30-2:00 pm – Mushrooms & Other Fungi Walk(Limited to 20 participants) Members of Eastern Penn Mushroomers will lead this walk in search of fungi and discuss aspects of fungal biology and identification.

2:30-3:30 pm – Tree Walk & Survey (Limited to 30 participants) Chris Hardy Join Dr. Hardy of the James C. Parks Herbarium, Millersville University in an attempt to discover as many tree species as possible in 1 ½ hours. Participants should be prepared for hiking.

3:30-4:30 pm – Plants walk (Limited to 20 participants) Joe Metzger Join botanist Joe Metzger for a walk to identify plants.

4:30-5:00 pm – Use of Remote Cameras in Mammal Research Aaron Haines Millersville University professor Aaron Haines is giving this indoor talk about the use of remote cameras in mammal research.

5:30-6:00 pm - Coyotes of Eastern and Urban Areas David Zegers Millersville University Professor Emeritus and Conservancy board member David Zegers will be talking about the biology and ecology of eastern coyotes and coyotes of urban areas. 5:45-7:30 pm – Supper Social for Science Teams Hamburgers, hotdogs, and wrap sandwiches will be provided to members of the science teams.

8:30-10:00 pm – Night Flying Moths & Other Insects Stephen Rannels Join Steve as he uses special lighting to attract night-flying moths and other nocturnal insects.

6:30-8:00 am – Continental Breakfast for Science Teams

7:00-11:30 am – Bird Walk & Survey (Limited to 20 participants) Members of the Lancaster County Bird Club Join Barbara of the Lancaster County Bird Club for a walk through the preserve in search of birds. Participants should bring binoculars.

7:30-10:00 am – Mammal Walk & Survey (Limited to 20 participants) Aaron Haines & David Zegers Join Dr. Haines and David Zegers of Millersville University for a walk through the preserve checking traps for mammals.

11:30-12:00 am – Web 2.0, Citizen Science and a New Paradigm in Biodiversity Science Chris & Nazli Hardy Come sit and listen to a presentation by Chris Hardy of the James C. Parks Herbarium, MillersvilleUniversity about the value of using new tools and technology for recording biodiversity observations in the classroom.

12:30-1:00 pm – Closing Ceremony BioBlitz Organizing Committee and all science team members. Overview of final species tally and discovery highlights.
