NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS

Dog License fees are payable in full to the Village Treasurer. Send a separate check for license fees. Do not include in tax payment or on tax statement. Fill in the information on the back of this page to accompany dog license payments. Presentation of a current rabies vaccination certificate is required . This certificate must also include information to identify the specific breed of dog. This certificate must be presented prior to a license being issued – NO EXCEPTIONS.

The license year is January 1 to December 31. A $5.00 penalty per dog will be assessed after April 1.

Chapter 174 Wisconsin Statutes requires all dogs 5 months of age or older be licensed. Village of Grantsburg Ordinance Sec. 7 states: It shall be unlawful for any person in the Village of Grantsburg to own, harbor or keep any dog more than five (5) months of age without complying with the provisions of Sec. 174.05 through Sec. 174.10, Wisconsin Statutes, relating to the listing, licensing and tagging of the same. Any person violating Section 7 shall be subject to a forfeiture of not less than Fifty Dollars ($50.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for the first offense plus court costs and not less than One

Hundred Dollars ($100.00) nor more than Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00) for any subsequent offenses plus court costs.

Village of Grantsburg Ordinance Sec. 7 has been revised and includes regulations on vicious dogs, potentially dangerous dogs and certain breeds of dogs. The entire ordinance is available for review at the Village Office, 316 South Brad Street, during normal business hours.

Individual Dog License fees:

Males $10.00, Neutered males $5.00 Females $10.00, Spayed females $5.00 (Fees are ½ of these amounts if the dog became 5 months of age after July 1 of the license year) Multiple Dog License fees: $35.00 for 12 or fewer dogs plus $5.00 for each dog in excess of 12
