Dear Teen Girl Scout,

Come a’board! A bold adventure awaits as we explore the nine worlds of Norse mythology, encounter dragons and get a taste of modern Scandinavia. Campers will also enjoy traditional camp activities such as nature, archery, songs, crafts, games and dance. All campers and staff will receive a camp T-shirt and camp patch. Every worthwhile event for girls requires participation and work from every level of Girl Scouting. Program leadership skills are essential to the success of the Day Camp program. Prior to camp each Program Aide applicant must have earned the GSUSA Program Aide Pin. If you have not earned the pin, consult “GS 411” for upcoming training dates. Training must be completed by April 10th.

To be fair to all and to provide a quality camp, we require that every Program Aide attend the following critical planning and training events. Initial job assignments may be changed to meet camp needs. Date Event Online Registration March 14, 2016 TBA Required PA meeting at Peterson Center (Camp Ilchester). Assignments will be posted. 7:00 - 8:30pm The Camp Director will address the theme and changes from the previous years. The Transportation Director will outline PA bus monitor duties, changes and assemble teams. The Assistant Director will explain the Junior Sleepover, discuss planned activities and interview PAs to work overnights. The Business Manager will ask for experienced PAs who are competent in outdoor skills to help co-run stations or devise skits for the Outdoor Training in June. Mandatory General Training Session – American Legion Hall in Laurel. This training will be an Sunday, May 21, 2017 overall camp organization and program. The headquarters’ staff will make a presentation 4:00 - 8:30 pm and specialty leaders that will include scheduled activities and theme related program. Program aide information There is a $25 camp fee per session for Program Aides. You will be provided with bus transportation, a T-shirt, camp patch, and service hours. Some PAs will be asked to serve as bus monitors; you will be contacted if your help is needed at your bus stop.

You must complete the PA Application Form in its entirety. Please do not leave any items blank as we depend on this information to determine how to assign PAs. The Girl Scout should fill the form out herself; however, we do need a parent or guardian to sign the Application form, Health History, and Transportation Document.

Camp Ilchester Directions: From Route 29 North: take Route 100 Exit to Long Gate Pkwy to Route 103 East. Stay on 103; Left at Ilchester Rd, pass the power company, camp will be on the left.

From Route 29 South: take Route 100 East. Exit to Long Gate Pkwy to Route 103 East. Left at Ilchester Rd, pass the power company camp will be on the left opposite Ilchester Elementary School.

American Legion Post #60 at 2 Main Street Laurel, MD 20707 Directions:

From Route 32: Take Route 1 South. Travel approximately 5 minutes to Main Street. Make a left on to Main Street. Cross over Route 1 North, go under the train bridge. American Legion Post 60 will be straight ahead. Building entrance on the side near the ball field.
