REGISTRATION 2016-2017 INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS

The registration process for the 2016-2017 school year will be completed online through the Powerschool student portal. Guidelines and instructions are included in this packet. Before you begin, please be aware of the following key points:

1. Students must claim their Powerschool account in order to complete their registration. If you haven’t yet claimed your account, refer to the instructions on page 1 of the Powerschool registration handout (golden rod). IF YOU HAVE ANY DIFFICULTY WITH CLAIMING OR LOGGING INTO YOUR ACCOUNT, YOU MUST SEE ONE OF YOUR TEACHERS FOR ASSISTANCE. No one in the guidance office or media center can access this information.

2. Students meet individually with their counselor each year to review their academic progress and select requested courses for the following school year. If you have questions, please save them for your individual meeting with your counselor. All questions will be answered before course selections are finalized.

3. Your required core courses have been put into Powerschool by your counselor, according to our district’s assignment principles (based mostly on standardized test scores). If you would like to change an assigned class or level, please complete the attached Course/Level Choice Request form with a parent’s signature and submit it to your counselor.

4. This year we’re piloting the Powerschool function that allows teachers to input their recommendations for course/level assignments to help students make informed choices. Any such assignments can be viewed using the ‘Course/Level Assignments’ link towards top of the registration screen. As always, you are encouraged to discuss your classes for next year with your teachers.

5. Students will have access to the Powerschool schedule request screen until they meet with their counselor individually. After the meeting, they will be given a course verification list showing their final selections, and the access to change courses online will be closed. If you would like to make any changes after your meeting, you must submit the signed Course/Level Choice Request to your counselor by Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
