King and Queen
Applicants must be a minimum of 4-H age 15, been in Hamilton County 4-H for two consecutive years (including current year) and exemplify the four H’s. Youth must be active in leadership and citizenship (community service) in their 4-H Career.
Must turn in 4-H Career Portfolio
4-H member can only be King or Queen once in their 4-H Career.
4-H member has to apply and then interview.
Although they can be one person, it is encouraged to have King/Queen and outstanding member be different people in a given year.
King/Queen is the ‘face of 4-H’ and therefore must be community-oriented and have good communication skills.

Involvement in the Jr. Leaders Community Service and Community service inside and outside Career Portfolio, 25 4-H Promotion of 4-H, turning a 4-H project area into Interview, community service, teaching a class Application using a 4-H project area you have focused in, promotion is presenting a 4-H project out to the community
Judging: + The committee will not bring in personal opinions or what they know about the youth applying + Age will not be considered as far as a senior having preference over a younger member. + Only one person running does not automatically earn it. The minimum criteria is to earn 50 points, and have completed the Portfolio, interview, and application. + The interview committee will have list of questions to ask every applicant, and to be asked in the same order. + Technology can be used to conduct the interview. Here are some notes about events that the 4-H Council would appreciate the King and Queen attending during your reign.
o Preside over Junior Leader meetings as Co-Presidents and work on citizenship and leadership skills AS MEMBERS
o Nebraska 4-H Month
. Emcee Talent Revue at nursing home, possible participation
. Host annual swimming party at the Leadership Center with Junior Leaders
o Parades
. A-ROR-N Days
. Hampton Booster Days
. Giltner Fall Festival (if held)
o Help with workshops
o Help with County 4-H Speech Contest
o Present/participate in workshop in your area of interest
o Help with Entry Night at the Fair & Clean Up Night After Fair
o Attend Awards Ceremony Thursday of Fair& Fashion Show Sunday of Fair
o Preside over and assist with livestock and small animals shows during Fair
o Assist with Achievement Night
