NOTE FROM THE PERMANENT MISSION OF PANAMA REQUESTING THAT A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PERMANENT COUNCIL BE CONVENED TO WELCOME HIS EXCELLENCY SAMUEL LEWIS NAVARRO, FIRST VICE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF PANAMA AND MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS PERMANENT MISSION OF PANAMA ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES WASHINGTON, D.C.

The Permanent Mission of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS) has the honor to address the Chair of the OAS Permanent Council regarding our note verbale PANA- OEA/5/188-2006 of April 10, 2006, attached hereto, in which we requested a protocolary meeting of the Permanent Council of the Organization in order to welcome His Excellency, Samuel Lewis Navarro, First Vice President of the Republic of Panama and Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Friday, May 19, 2006.

At the suggestion of the Director of Protocol of the Organization, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Panama would like to request that the Chair of the OAS Permanent Council kindly arrange for the meeting with His Excellency, Samuel Lewis Navarro, First Vice President of the Republic of Panama and Minister of Foreign Affairs to take place as a “special” meeting, on the same date, at 11.a.m.

For the purposes of this solemn occasion, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Panama is also attaching copies, in English and in Spanish, of the curriculum vitae of His Excellency, Samuel Lewis Navarro, First Vice President of the Republic of Panama and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Panama avails itself of this opportunity to convey to the Chair of the Permanent Council of the OAS renewed assurances of its highest consideration.
