Welcome to another fantastic year at ______! As we begin the new school year, we would like to introduce you to The 100 Mile Club®.

The 100 Mile Club® was started 20 years ago by Kara Lubin, a teacher in the Corona- Norco Unified School District. 100 Mile Club® is now a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to provide to all individuals the opportunity to experience fitness and TRUE personal success by Accepting the Challenge of running (or walking) 100 miles at school during a single school year. Students use and experience life skills based on The Pyramid of Success, designed by the legendary basketball coach, teacher, family friend, and 100 Mile Club® supporter, Coach John Wooden.

We have Accepted the Challenge, and we are so excited! Starting the first week of school, participants will go out to the playground, stretch out, and run a little bit. The miles and love for running begin to build almost instantly! When your child reaches 25 miles, he/she will be presented with a fantastic t-shirt that is designed to show off your child’s accomplishments throughout the year. This year, we will also offer mile credits to students who participate in designated local 1-5K charity walks. Yay!!

Through the journey toward 100 miles, your child will practice personal goal setting, team spirit, perseverance, poise, confidence, and honest self-evaluation. As your child reaches other “mile”stones, we all celebrate together. When your child reaches 100 miles, he or she will be awarded with a beautiful gold medal at our Year-End Medal Ceremony where every participant will receive a special certificate celebrating their total miles run.

Estimados Padres de familia/tutores,

¡Ha comenzado otro año fantástico en la escuela ______! Quisiéramos presentarles la más nueva actividad escolar, el Club de 100 Millas.

El Club de 100 Millas se inició hace 20 años por Kara Lubin, una profesora en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de Corona-Norco. Actualmente, el Club de 100 Millas es una organización de fines sin lucro cuya única misión es ofrecerles a todos los individuos la oportunidad de experimentar la buena condición y el VERDADERO éxito personal al Aceptar el Reto de correr (o caminar) 100 millas en la escuela a lo largo de un año académico. Los estudiantes adquirirán y utilizarán los conocimientos prácticos para la vida basados en La Pirámide del Éxito, diseñada por el legendario entrenador de básquetbol, profesor, amigo, y partidario del Club de 100 Millas, el Técnico John Wooden.

¡Nuestra escuela ha Aceptado el Reto, y estamos muy emocionados y listos para comenzar! Desde el primer día de clases, cada clase saldrá a la pista de correr a estirarse, calentarse, y correr un poco. ¡Las millas y el amor al correr empiezan a formarse casi al instante! Cuando su hijo(a) haya recorrido 25 millas, se le premiará una camistea fantástica diseñada para celebrar los logros de su hijo a lo largo del año. Este año también les ofreceremos crédito de millas a los estudiantes que hayan participado en ciertas caminatas de beneficio de 1-5K. ¡Así es!

A través de esta jornada hacia las 100 millas, su hijo(a) se propondrá metas personales, trabajará en equipo, aprenderá de la preseverancia, la humildad, la autoestima, y de la evaluación propia y sincera. Al alcanzar otras metas, juntos todos celebraremos. Cuando su hijo(a) haya recorrido las 100 millas, se le ortogará una hermosa medalla de oro en la Ceremonia de Fin del Año Académico en la cual cada participante recibirá un certifiacado especial celebrando su total de millas recorridas.
