The 26th annual International Fly Tying Symposium is coming to the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ on November 19 and 20, 2016. You’re invited to the 2016 Symposium, so please complete the following forms. If you know a tier who doesn’t receive email, or wants to tie, have them contact us and we will mail an invitation.
If you are a new tier, all we need are a few photos of your work via email or send flies and photos through the mail. A few sentences explaining your tying experience are a good idea. When we hear from you, an invitation will follow. We rarely reject invited tiers unless they are late and all spaces are full. In September, your name will be posted on our website as well as our brochure. If you are concerned about being scheduled, please contact us with questions.
Complete the form on page 3 choosing one of the two categories:
Category #1, where you only demonstrate your art and do not sell Category #1, entitles you to a free 8-foot table shared with a second tier
Category #2, sales are allowed. FEE $280 due by September 1st, 2016 Category #2 is an 8-foot table for one tier. The fee for category #2 also includes ONE ticket to the banquet. Tiers from other countries will also be given a complimentary banquet ticket and a shared category #1 table for the entire symposium. If you want to split the fee and share a category #2 table with a fellow tier, that is OK; but the fee must be paid in full by the tier who is requesting the table. You can settle the split payment with each other.
Please complete the form and return ASAP. We need to have your request and payment by September 1, 2016. SOONER IS BETTER. After September 1, 2016 the fee will increase to $300.

See the attached Fly Plate Submission form for your 2016 fly for the Symposium. Send it to Ted Patlen before September 10, 2016. Review the Fly Plate Submission Form on Page 4. Contact our show office in early August if you plan to send a fly and we will rush mail you a signature card to enclose with your pattern to Ted. He definitely needs your signature to frame with your fly.

FLY PLATE SUBMISSION
Tyers: The flies you send will never be fished, just looked at so please take note:
SUGGESTIONS:
COLOR: Strong deeply colored flies will stand out better against the off-white background. SIZE: Smaller trout type flies-no smaller than #14. Salt water and Bass type-there is limited space so please try to keep your flies inside 4-5” range.
MATERIALS: Please do not send flies that will explode in the frame. Materials like marabou, long ostrich herl, flash-a-bou, etc. may be great for fishing but lousy for presentation. These softer materials will drop, fritz-out and look ragged after a short time.
SIGNATURES: Once we receive your fly we will rush mail your signature card. Please sign all of the cards using a #2 graphite pencil only! It is your autograph and how you sign your name is your prerogative, but remember, years from now there will be someone wondering, “Who the hell is that?” if it is illegible.
PACKING FLIES: Sometimes flies arrive in poor condition and need surgery, and most times I can fix them, if I know what they’re supposed to look like.
