THINGS TO BRING IN NOVEMBER TRIP TO YANGON (Temperature: 20o - 30o C)
1. For Ladies - Short sleeve cotton T-shirts would be most appropriate; no sheer clothing allowed; ankle-length long wide skirts or longyi- for comfort especially during meditation and for modesty; no low plunging necklines (for blouses), no leggings or long stocking please. (Monastery prohibits trouser wearing for ladies) - Shawl - Sun cap, sunglasses, umbrella and fan
2. For Gents - Cotton T-shirt with sleeves would be most appropriate for upper body wear. - Wear loose long trousers or longyi; but should not wear shorts. - Sun cap, sunglasses, umbrella and fan
3. Snacks - Like other monasteries in Myanmar, Sunlun Monastery provides food for breakfast and lunch only. If deemed necessary, please bring your own food and dietary supplements such as biscuits, instant tea, coffee, cereal packets, etc.
4. Toiletries etc. - Bring tissue paper, tissue rolls, hangers, tooth brush, tooth paste, face towel, bath towel, shampoo, shower cap, shower gel/soap, sun block, cup, water bottles for personal use.
5. Bedding - Bring your own bed sheet, pillow case, yoga mat or thin pad if you are not accustomed to sleep on wooden bed without a mattress.
6. Cleaning agents - Bring soap, washing powder, cleansing agents & utensils for personal use, etc. (for laundry, in toilets, bathrooms, etc.)
7. Slippers - To wear within the perimeter of the Monastery for convenience of taking them off when entering Temples, shrines etc. – You are always required to taking them off when entering buildings.
8. Guarded Against Bites- Bring mosquito repellent and ointment to prevent insect bites and heat rashes, e.g. spray or lotion (recommended for use at night meditation sessions).
9. Light jacket - As it would be cool in early morning; you may bring a light sweater as well.
10. Small torch - For use during night-time or electricity black-out.
11. Camera - Please bring adaptor, charger and extra memory sticks for digital camera
12. Currency - US dollar notes must be new notes, no stains, no chips, no wrinkle or damage, the notes beginning with letter AB and CB would not be accepted. Please bring enough US dollar cash for offering, sightseeing activities and other miscellaneous expenses.
13. Medicine - Bring the medicine that you are taking regularly, or those that you might potentially need. No illicit drug is allowed into the Country.
14. Please don’t wear BLACK or dark clothing (as black and dark colors attract mosquitoes).
15. Local voltage : Same as HK (220V)
16. Electrical socket : Adaptor is needed as theirs are those with two round-pins
17. Smoking and alcohol drinking are strictly prohibited.
18. Foreign cell phones would not work in Myanmar.

REGULATIONS AT THE MONASTERY
1) Not to go outside the Monastery before approval of Sayadaw U Wara - the Abbot of the Monastery.
2) Not to disturb other people around you after meditation (at the Meditation Hall) or during rest periods (at the Dormitory), e.g. talking loudly, singing, etc.
3) No usage of perfume as it will distract other yogi’s concentration.
4) To wear appropriate clothing.
FOR EMERGENCIES
• Family members may phone to the Monastery at (95-1) - 660 860 (same number for phone and fax). However, before faxing, please phone Sayadaw U Wara first to turn on the fax machine.
• Appropriate time for calling: Hong Kong Time Yangon Time 7.30 am 6 am 12.30 pm 11 am 6.30 pm 5 pm
• Sunlun Monastery breakfast/lunch time and meditation schedule are as follows:
Breakfast : 6am
Lunch : 10:45am
Meditation : 7am, 12:30pm, 6:15pm
• Yangon now has IDD service and the cost for overseas call from Yangon is approximately US$2 per minute. • For Emergencies, family members may contact either of the following Sunlun Committee members in Hong Kong for assistance:
