The Spiritual Adoption Has Three Elements

Spiritual Adoption Program St. Mary’s will be starting a Spiritual Adoption program here this weekend. Everyone is invited to participate by imitating the innkeeper who provided shelter to Joseph and Mary in Bethlehem. The Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen encouraged the spiritual adoption of an unborn baby. This involves praying daily for nine months that the life of one baby, unknown to you, be spared from abortion. The spiritual Adoption has three elements: First, it is an opportunity to pledge a daily prayer for nine months for a baby who is in danger of abortion. The Spiritual Adoption prayer cards can be found in in front of the church in a basket at the statue of Mary. Please first say a “Hail Mary” for the parents of the unborn baby you which to adopt. Pray that God in His great mercy will grant the parent the courage to humbly say “yes” to bring forth the life they have conceived. Just as Joseph and Mary said “yes” to the life of our Savior. Second, this program is an opportunity to educate about the development of the pre-born baby. A new poster will be displayed in the entry of the church bulletin board each month, which depicts each state of your baby’s development. Third, at the end of the nine months we will host a baby shower, by imitating the Magi. We can provide assistance in the form of diapers and basic baby care items that our parish will then donate to the Door of Hope Pregnancy Center in Viroqua. Your prayers can make a difference between whether a baby will be born…or aborted. Our prayers can also be a form of spiritual support for both parents. Please share the love of life given to you by the Lord of all life and join in by spiritually adopting a baby. Stop at the statue of Mary, fill out an adoption card with your name and the name of your adopted baby and place it in the box next to the basket. Then take a prayer card to pray for your baby every day. The brief but powerful prayer is: “Dear Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion. Amen” May God bless our efforts, Laura and Lydia Wieczorek
