HEART DISEASES AND THEIR CURES PATIENCE Heart attacks are one of our greatest physical killers. Spiritual heat attacks are the greatest killer of the soul. What are the cures for spiritual heart attacks ? What are the cures for physical heart attacks ? It may surprise you that the remedy for both are the same ? For most heart attacks !!!! What causes spiritual heart failures ? What causes physical heart failures ? For most heart failures the cure is the same. Both remedies are found in Gods word. After all, the author of the Bible is the same author of life.

UNFORGIVENESS ENVY SELFISHNESS FAULTFINDING DISCONTENT PRIDE DOUBT DISBELIEF FEAR WORRY FRUSTRATION IMPATIENCE PREJUDICE

These are just to name a few of the areas of life we most overcome in order to overcome “Our Heart Diseases “ OVERCOMING THE DISEASE OF IMPATIENCE

Solomon: Eccles. 7:8 Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.

One author said: “Patience is the queen of the virtues”

Dutch Proverb: “A handful of patience is worth more than a bushel of brains”

Shakespeare observed: “How poor are they that have not patience”

What is Patience ? Webster: “Bearing pains or trial calmly or without complaint; manifesting forebearance under provocation or strain; not hasty or impetuous; steadfast despite opposition, difficulty or adversity; able or willing to bear”

Thayers Greek N/T: “The characteristic of a man who is unswerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to the faith and piety by even the greatest trials and suffering”

The Greek synonym for Patience is Longsuffering: 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

This word is found about 30 times in the New Testement

The idea behind Patience in the N/T is “Steadfastness”, “Endurance”, “Perseverance”, “Forbearance”, “Waiting” Patience is a biblical requirement of life:

2 Peter 1:5- 6 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; [6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

1 Tim. 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

Titus 2:2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Rev. 13:10 He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. Bible Examples of Patience:

Romans 15:5 God is patient Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

Hebrews 12:2 Christ is patient Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

James 5:10 The Prophets were patient Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

James 5:11 Job was patient Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

2 Tim. 3:10-11 Paul was patient But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Rev. 1:9 John was patient I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.

So many other passages that relate to us the need for patience and the examples of those in times past that were patient. Areas where we need to exercise Patience:

Luke 21:19 Patience with ourselves In your patience possess ye your souls.

1 Peter 2:1-2 Christianity is a growth process Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, [2] As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

1 Peter 3:1-2 Patience at home Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives; [2] While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.

Do not expect perfection, as we are not perfect

Young marriages must work together patiently to blend into one life.

Patience is Soul-Winning:

One author said: “ You can send a message around the world in one- seventh of a second, yet it may take years to force an idea through a wuarter-inch of human skull “

2 Peter 2:5 Noah was patient And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

2 Tim. 4:2 Paul’s charge to preachers Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Hebrews 13:17 Elders are to be patient Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.

2 Thes. 1:4 Patience in persecution So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

1 Cor. 3:6 Patience in church growth I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

James 5:7-8 Patience on the Lord’s coming Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. [8] Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

Galatians 4:4 Patience in our pray life But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

Ephes. 4:2 Patience with others in general With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

Patience will keep us from misjudging & misunderstanding and under- valuing people. How is Patience produces or acquired ? Romans 15:4 Gods word produces patience For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1 Thes. 1:3 Hope produces patience Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

Patience will be rewarded Romans 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
