BOSWELL HHIGH SSCHOOL 5805 W. Bailey Boswell Rd. Fort Worth, TX 76179 Phone: 817-237-3314 •Fax: 817-238-8706 October 11, 2016 BOS Family,

Last week was absolutely incredible, from the decorated halls to ending our week with two wins in football and volleyball. Tonight, we play a high profile game in volleyball against Aledo. We are currently ranked 2nd in the Area and 5th in the State. Please come out and support our Lady Pioneers. This week’s football game is Thursday night against Northwest at their stadium. We hope to see you there in support of Pioneer Football, currently 3-0 in district.

In addition, this week Theatre will perform Almost, Maine On Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 12-16. The Thursday through Saturday show begins at 7:30 PM and the Sunday show at 2:00 PM. The show will be held in the Black Box and is $5.00 for admission.

Band of Gold will perform in Burleson at 11:45 AM at the UIL Region 30 Contest. Please come support our students this Saturday.

Next week, the PSAT will be administered to all 10th grade students and to 9th and 11th grade students who have paid on October 19th. This is a very important test as it prepares students for college entrance exams such as the ACT and SAT. As a reminder, the 11 th grade administration of the PSAT is the only test utilized to calculate National Merit Scholar Qualification that can lead to potential scholarships.

Not only did we have an unprecedented 526 students with perfect attendance for the 1st 6 weeks, the campus as a whole had a 96.8% attendance rate for the 1st 6 weeks. This is the highest I have seen our attendance rate in five years! Thank you for your incredible support in ensuring your student is at school and ready to learn each and every day! This 6 weeks, we will specifically focus on our seniors’ attendance. As leaders on the campus, they can bring about significant changes that can positively impact our school.

We have received some reported concerns about students speeding through neighborhoods after school lets out. Please talk with your student about driving safely. Many of our surrounding neighborhoods are without sidewalks or may undergoing construction. Regardless, it is never permissible to speed and they are placing themselves as well as children playing and /or walking home at risk. In addition, we still have students without a parking pass. Please keep in mind, these are free and required to drive and park on campus.

School ID’s have been distributed. If your student has not picked up his/her ID, they may do so from 8:00 -9:00 am in the copy room. Please keep in mind ID’s are required for food purchases, in the library and at all school events to include dances. In addition, retakes for pictures is November 3.

Please mark your calendar for the following upcoming events:  Oct 21 – Pioneer Football / Lady Pioneers v Saginaw (Home) Pink Out Game  Oct 26 – Boo at BOS (Community Trick or Treat Event) We are very proud of our campus as a whole and use social media to share our advances and celebrations. Please follow us on Twitter @boswellhs. As always, It Is a Great Day to Be a Pioneer!
