Notice that book/magazine titles and web site names are in italics, if hand written they should be underlined.
Authors names are listed Last, First
Medium of Publication will generally be either print or web
Remember to Capitalize titles and companies
Double Spaced
Hanging Indent
Alphabetical (by first item listed in the citation – usually the author)
If an item is unavailable leave it out (like if you can’t find a date on a webpage.)
Here are the formats for the four basic types of sources you will use.
Encyclopedia:
Author’s name Last, First. “Title of Article.” Name of Encyclopedia. Year. Medium of Publication.
Grier, James W. “Eagle.” World Book Encyclopedia. 2007. Print.
Book:
Author’s name Last, First. Title. City: Publisher, Year. Medium of Publication.
Grambo, Rebecca l. Eagles: Masters of the Sky. Stillwater: Voyageur Press, 1997. Print.
Magazine or Newspaper:
Author(s). "Title of Article." Title of Periodical Day Month Year: pages. Medium of publication.
Poniewozik, James. "TV Makes a Too-Close Call." Time 20 Nov. 2000: 70-71. Print.
Internet:
Author’s name Last, First. “Document title.” Web Site Name. Date of publication. Sponsoring Institution. Medium of Publication. Date accessed.
Jan. 2000.
Works Cited
