I am a recent graduate. Can I still apply? You are eligible to apply if the start date of the semester is within a year of your graduation date. Example: If you graduated on May 31, 2015 and you are applying for Winter/Spring semester, you are eligible. May I apply for more than one internship? If I am interested in applying for more than one internship, do I need to submit multiple applications? You may apply for as many internships as you would like, however, we highly recommend that you apply for no more than 3. Applying for more than 3 will not increase the likelihood of you being selected for an internship. Please submit your application for your first choice internship. Within the application, you will have the opportunity to list additional internships you wish to be considered for. If you have multiple cover letters, we recommend that you title them to correspond with the internship(s) you’re applying for.

Some internships request writing samples. What are the requirements for the writing samples? Some internships require writing samples. If you are applying for a News division internship, please submit two writing samples. One sample must be a journalistic writing piece, the other must be an academic piece. The journalistic sample can be a commentary or news article, written for either print or the web, while the academic piece should be a paper written for a journalism course.

Writing samples for internships in other divisions can include press releases, articles for print, or web or academic papers related to your field of study. Please submit no more than two writing samples. If the length of your writing sample is extensive, you may submit an excerpt of your sample, making sure that what is sent best exemplifies your writing ability. Please use this information and your best judgment when considering the writing sample(s) you wish to submit.

How should writing/work samples be submitted? Writing and /or other work samples should be submitted at the time of application or by the application deadline, and should be either be listed as links within the cover letter/resume or uploaded along with your resume. If I have a successful internship with NPR for one semester, is it possible to extend my internship into the following semester(s) or apply to intern at NPR during another semester in the future?
