HONORS CREDIT For Women’s Chorale & Concert Choir
In order to receive honors credit for either of these two courses, you must do the following:
. Discuss with the director whether you would be willing/able to fulfill the requirements below. . Get approved by the director to take the course for honors credit. . Talk to your guidance counselor to have your designation changed to “honors.”
In order to be considered for honors credit, you must accumulate at least 10 points from the “menu” below:

Often winds, strings, or percussion are needed as well. Always perform sight singing quizzes alone, no partner…………………………………….……………1 point Always perform “honors level” sight singing quizzes alone……………………………..……………….2 points Currently be enrolled in another music class****……………………………...………….……………2 points Band, Orchestra, Music Theory, AP Music Theory, or another Vocal Ensemble Lead sectional rehearsals if needed………………………….…………………………………………..2 points Be a “Concert Night Helper” (Lights, Money, Signs, Door Duty, etc.) …………………………….……1 point Set-up / Tear Down Risers for Concerts / Rehearsals………………………………...………………….1 point Take daily attendance during warm-ups and report to the director………………...…….………………1 point Participate in an extracurricular vocal ensemble (does not have to be associated with ELHS)…………..2 points
* To simply audition is not enough to fulfill this item’s requirements. You must prepare adequately for the audition and perform to the best of your ability. If it is clear to the director that you were not prepared, the audition will not count. It is not, however, essential that you be accepted into the festival.
** This will entail working on the choral library, cataloging and organizing the music in the filing cabinets. It could also mean preparing music to be handed out, i.e. Numbering/hole-punching new music and adding it to the database.
***This will entail learning the piano accompaniment and all vocal parts for at least one piece on which your ensemble is currently working.
****Must be in good standing with the teacher of this second course.
