Personal Statement Please attach a 500-word intellectual biography in which you indicate your reasons for working towards an advanced degree, your plans for a career, and any other information that may help us in determining your qualifications. You may direct your referents to address any combination of the following:  Your academic potential and intellectual curiosity. Will you positively contribute to the small seminar environment?  Your personal maturity, character, and level of responsibility. Will you positively contribute to our TA program?  Your German language skills. Will they allow you to read and discuss texts at the graduate level?
