FHS ALGEBRA-II 2014-15 Room 205 / Coach Dan Aldrich

Class Procedures  BE ON TIME / BE PREPARED / BE RESPECTFUL / DO YOUR BEST!  Leaving class is reserved for emergencies only! Nobody is allowed out of class during the first 10 minutes or the last 10 minutes. I will dismiss the class when it is time to leave.  When a student is absent, they are responsible to complete the missed assignments in a timely manner and copy any missed notes from another student. An excused absence will have 1 week to turn in all missing work. Arrange absences ahead of time if possible (extra-curricular students need to pick up work a few days before they are absent)!  Always ask questions if you do not understand!

Recommended Classroom Supplies  Paper , Pencils, 1-inch Binder, 1 Box Kleenex , 4-AAA Batteries

Grading Scale  Daily Work (5%)  Homework (10%) – Lowest grade dropped  Quizzes (40%) – 4-to 6 per six weeks with the lowest grade dropped  Tests (45%) – 2 to 3 per six weeks – No Retests - All Test Grades Final  Extra Credit is not offered. Your grade is based on the assignments in the grading scale above.

Homework  Homework assignments are due as assigned. Assignments turned in 1 day late will be given a 50, but any assignment more than 1 day late will result in a zero.  It is the responsibility of the student to perform their homework and prepare for their quizzes and tests. Copying others work to get a better grade on your homework will not prepare you for the assessments. Low quiz or tests scores is a direct indicator of poor homework skills and exam preparation.

Notebook  To stay organized in class, I recommend you get a 1-inch binder and keep all of your handouts/paper inside it to bring to class each day.  Here is an example of how to organize your binder into sections using tab dividers: o Warm Ups / Blank Paper o Notes / Daily Work o Homework o Quizzes / Tests o Progress Reports / Misc

Progress Reports  Progress Reports may be given to you throughout the six weeks to help you understand your grade. It will be mandatory that anyone with an average below a 70% must return their progress report signed by the parent/guardian. Assigned tutorials may be mandatory for students who are failing the course. Skipping a tutorial may result in school disciplinary action.
