4-H AG/ANIMAL SCIENCE EXTENSION YOUTH INTERNSHIP

Position Type: Paid Internship Position Title: 4-H Ag/Animal Science Intern Application Due Date: February 20, 2017 Date of Internship: Part-time position starting in spring 2017, full-time summer 2017 Department/Unit: 4-H Youth Development Location: State 4-H Office, 610 Langdon St., Madison with travel throughout the state Supervisor: Pam Hobson, 4-H Youth Development Ag/Animal Science Specialist Compensation: Dependent on Start Date

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION: The 4-H Ag/Animal Science Intern will work with the supervisor to coordinate and execute various state-wide youth ag/animal science events including, but not limited to, the Commodity Carnival, Farm Technology Days, Area Animal Science Days, State 4-H Dairy & Livestock Cattle Judging Contests, State Dog Show, Wisconsin State Fair and State 4-H & Youth Conference. The position includes overnight travel involved with Area Animal Science Days, the State 4-H Judging Contests and the WI State Fair. The department covers work related travel costs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Development of 4-H Animal Science related resources 2. Workshop instructor at youth agricultural events 3. Assist with development activities that support youth agricultural programs 4. Organization of student volunteers for events 5. Write and submit press releases 6. Assist with the coordination of Commodity Carnival 7. Manage social media sites for Commodity Carnival

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in 4-H and youth agricultural programs and knowledge of Wisconsin Youth Agricultural activities is desirable. A qualified candidate must also be self-motivated and have strong organizational, interpersonal and computer skills in addition to being detail oriented.
