At the IAB Town Hall Meeting in Miami, Attendees Were Split Into 2 Groups (One with New

At the IAB town hall meeting in Miami, attendees were split into 2 groups (one with new members and one with existing members) The groups were asked for ideas on what types of things IAB should be working on or get involved in. We really got a wide variety of answers. The list has been put into categories. Please vote for up to 3 of the 8 categories that you think the IAB should consider tackling as future opportunities:

1. Awards: - Create an award for successful application of IE skills to various fields

2. Education/Knowledge Sharing  Webinars for IE professionals  Add a session to the conference about IE’s ability to impact Green initiatives  Monthly webinars to better share ideas and promote IAB

3. Communication  Translate Website into different languages

4. Networking:  IIE needs help leveraging Facebook and linked-in

5. Marketing the Industrial Engineering Profession (i.e., educating people on value of IE’s)  Communicate to the world that we’re IE’s whether in manufacturing settings or any other industry  Promote IE’s ability to impact green initiatives  Link Google searches for continuous improvement or other words that describe IE activities to IIE website (Think about what words are used in other cultures)  Use companies intranets to gain exposure  Consider a new definition of IE – “Industrial Engineering is: The creation and improvement of concepts that increase value”  Advertise in airline magazines, iPhone, U-Tube  Remove lower quality “IE” u-tube videos  Get best “IE” u-tube videos on IIE web site  Take ownership of “100 year track” and enhance

Marketing the IIE organization  IIE should have more aggressive marketing  Link Google searches for continuous improvement or other words that describe IE activities to IIE website (Think about what words are used in other cultures)  Use companies intranets to gain exposure  Consider adding “proud member of IIE” to your business cards  Leverage Wikipedia to promote IIE  Advertise in airline magazines, iPhone, U-Tube

7. Marketing Industrial Engineering to young people  Create a kit for promoting IE to students  Leverage other groups who are promoting STEM groups to kids (Boston Museum of Science, SWE, etc)  Work to train and promote IIE/IAB with math and science teachers

8. Other:  Promote PE  Promote certifications  Promote ABET  Greater partnership with CETA  Promote IAB - Reach out to Student and Senior Chapters to promote IAB and get their involvement  Promote plant tours at all our conferences  Increase international IAB presence
