3. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES For the first day of the tournament, there are up to 8 Check-In Table Helper volunteer opportunities. There will be approximately 6 stations here where tournament participants will need to check-in at. Each of these stations will need to be manned with at least one and some with 2 helpers.

The different check-in stations with their duties are listed below. 4. Initial Check-in Station (2 helpers preferred here) a. Check in online registrants b. Ask if they are planning on playing another event (singles or doubles), if so register them online and collect their registration fee. $28 for singles, $18 for doubles if paying with a credit card. c. If they pay with check or cash, only charge them $25 and $15 respectively and GRTA will collect this amount, while any online registrations are paid by credit card and they pay the USTA fee of $3 per event. d. Write a receipt for each cash or check received. Provide one to the customer and the other is maintained in the receipt book. e. Instruct player to continue the check-in process by going to all the stations. 5. Free Lunch Ticket and Goody Bag and Info. a. Provide one free lunch ticket and communicate to the player that they use this for a free piece of pizza for lunch. b. Hand the player a goody bag. c. Inform players of the Ice/First Aid/Refreshments Tables availability at both the Boys and Girls Courts locations. d. Instruct them to continue to the next station. 6. GRTA T-Shirt Station a. Ask the player what size t-shirt they want. b. Find the correctly sized t-shirt. c. Give the t-shirt to the player and wish them luck. d. Instruct player to continue to the next station. 7. Racquet Master of IA City Gift Certificate Door Prize Drawing Sign-up Station a. Have players print their name on the Door Prize Drawing Form. b. Instruct players to continue to the next station. 8. USTA Junior Player Oath Station (2 helpers preferred here) Great River Tennis Association a. Explain what the Player Oath is. Have the Player read and sign the Oath. b. Tell the Player that at the end of each match he/she plays; they will have a chance to evaluate their opponent’s Sportsmanship Performance as well as their own Sportsmanship Performance. This will then be handed to the Court Director. c. Tell them that they may have an opportunity to be nominated and perhaps awarded a USTA Sportsmanship Award; because all tournament volunteers and staff are instructed to be observant of good sportsmanship behavior and to report/nominate that particular player for this award. d. Instruct the player to continue to the next station. 9. Photographs Release Station with Tournament Instructions Info Sheet (2 helpers preferred) a. If I don’t have two photographer volunteers who can manage this station; then I will need at least one helper for here. b. Have Players read and sign the “Photo Release” form so any photographs taken during the tournament may be used on the GRTA website, USTA websites, Facebook, and/or other media or social network outlets. c. Provide players with the Tournament Instructions Sheet and highlight each line item. d. Instruct the Girl Players to go to Weed Park and await match play instructions. Instruct the Boy Players to stay at the Muscatine High School Tennis Courts and await their match play instructions.

All Check-in Table Helpers will also be asked to be observant and if you notice a player displaying excellent sportsmanship qualities, please consider nominating them for a USTA Sportsmanship Award.

10. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS NA 11.

12. PREFERRED SKILLS Must be able to effectively communicate instructions to players and volunteers and ensure that they understand. Must be able to collect and count monies. Must be able to record payments and track them.
