P.C.E.A. Awards Information Annual Awards Banquet April 13 and 14, 2010
The Professional Recognition Committee is continuing with the same awards nomination process as last year. We ask that P.C.E.A. Board Members do the following for their locals.
1. Encourage the writing of award nominations for your peers as well as volunteers. 2. Provide copies of the nomination forms as needed. 3. Provide assistance on how to fill out the forms. 4. Stress the importance of keeping the information concise yet informative. 5. Remind writers that nominations must be specific-offering supportive data, dates, committees, awards, curriculum development, etc. Emphasis should be on Professional Accomplishments. (See examples on website: pcea.massteacher.org) 6. Remind your colleagues about the due date. 7. Fill out the Years of Service form for your local.
Important 1. All nomination papers must be signed by a P.C.E.A. Board Member. In addition, Honor Awards and Citation Awards must also be signed by the local President or Vice- President. 2. If you have any questions, please contact a Professional Recognition Committee member. Amanda Kenefick ([email protected]) or Nancy Barry ([email protected]) 3. The nominator will receive a follow-up letter or phone call informing him/her if the nominee will receive the award. Please make sure that the addresses are complete and legible. P.C.E.A. Board Members who nominate a colleague will receive their notification when the names are read at the March P.C.E.A. meeting. 4. Para-professionals who are P.C.E.A. members could qualify for an Honor Award if they meet the criteria. 5. All Service Awards should be given out at the local level. No Service Awards will be given at the Annual Banquet. 6. It is the nominator’s responsibility to encourage the nominee to attend the banquet. 7. All nominations must be kept confidential.
