POST TITLE: Bowling Alley Attendant DATE AGREED: June 2011

RESPONSIBLE TO: Leisure Supervisor / Facility Manager

DETAILS OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To provide an efficient Bowling Alley reception service to members of the public using computerised equipment.

2. Provide excellent customer service at all times, retaining existing and attracting new customers.

3. Assist in ensuring the highest consistent standards of Customer Quality Service is achieved on your shift.

4. To take bookings relating to the use of the bowling alley by members of the public and keep appropriate records.

5. Responsible for issuing/collecting bowling shoes and other bowling equipment.

6. Carry out before use maintenance checks on the bowling alley lanes prior to opening to members of the public.

7. Assist bowling alley users in the use and operation of the lanes and computerised scoring equipment.

8. Responsible for undertaking general cleaning duties and maintenance duties as required, including cleaning of bowling lanes, bowling balls and wiping of table and chairs.

9. Adhere to BPL’s uniform standards, stock control and cash handling policies at all times.

10. Ensure that your work areas are clean, safe and maintained in accordance with company guidelines.

11. Maintain a high level of attendance and time keeping in line with their rota.

1 of 5 June 2011 12. Adhere to all aspects of licensing law, trading standards, customs and excise regulations, food hygiene, health and safety and company policy.

13. Serve customers with a range of draught and bottled drinks from behind the bar area.

14. Collect and wash glasses, and ensure the general cleanliness of the bar and seating area is maintained at all times.

15. Restock shelves/coolers behind bar with bottled drinks.

16. Check cash floats and till takings at the end of shift and complete the necessary documentation in accordance with financial regulations.

17. To carry out duties associated with emptying of machines and monies on a regular basis, i.e. gaming machines and pool tables. The counting of monies in accordance with financial procedures.

18. Responsible for maintaining Health and Safety Standards within the bowling alley in accordance with legal and BPL requirements as applicable to the premises, equipment, other staff and customers.

19. Expected to keep documentation in relation to lost and found property.

20. Maintain product knowledge and be familiar with current promotions and new products.

And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management.

Information to Candidates on Employment Terms and Conditions

The following details outlining some of the main Terms and Conditions of Employment are for information only. They do not constitute a contractual agreement. A full Contract of Employment will be issued to the successful applicant on appointment.

1. Working Hours

The normal hours of work will be 13.75 hours per week. Hours may also include evenings, weekends and bank holidays to be worked to suit the needs of the service.

2. Holidays

There are 20 days annual leave from 1 April to 31 March each year plus 8 Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff). Staff appointed part way through a holiday year will receive a proportionate entitlement.

3. Salary

The rate of pay will be up to £7.50 per hour (depending on age).

4. Probationary Period

All new appointments are subject to a probationary period of 6 months during which time suitability for the position appointed will be assessed.

5. Pension

There is eligibility to join the BPL Friends Life Pension Scheme.

6. Notice Period

The notice period that will operate on both sides to terminate the Contract will be one month or, on the employer side, one week for every year of service (to a maximum of 12 weeks) if this is greater.

Appointments made are subject to receipt of satisfactory health clearance, and two references.
