May 2015

Dear Patient,

After nearly 15 years of being a Partner at the Phoenix Surgery I have decided to leave at the end of June. I have greatly enjoyed working at the Phoenix but I feel now that I need to find a future with a better work/life balance.

I am grateful for the trust you have invested in me as I have tried my best to care for you and have only admiration for the fortitude, resilience and cheerfulness which so many of you possess when facing adversity in your lives.

The other Partners have made an excellent choice in appointing Dr Khalid Al-Khayat to be my replacement and he will be your new registered doctor as from the 1st July 2015.

Dr Khalid Al-Khayat known as "Dr Khalid" qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 2006. He completed his G.P training in the Midlands before initially working around the Wiltshire and Swindon area. He enjoys all aspects of General Practice, but particularly training medical students. He has also been approved as a trainer for up and coming GP registrars who are trainee GPs. In his spare time he enjoys keeping fit and doing anything outdoors. He also spends a lot of time with his horses.

I will be available in the waiting room at South Cerney Surgery between 2-3.30pm on Thursday 25th June if any of you would like to say goodbye in person to me.

It has been a privilege to care for you and I wish you all health and happiness for the future. With best wishes,

Dr N Thurston
