GUIDELINES ASSISTANCE LEAGUE® OF MID-MISSOURI 2016-2017 LINKS TO LEARNING PROGRAM

Submit applications with principal’s signature to the Business Services Office, Aslin Building by August 24, 2016. Jim Cherrington will sign applications as the District administrator.

The Assistance League® of Mid-Missouri (ALMM) is a volunteer service organization that supports philanthropic projects that meet community needs. Links to Learning is a competitive program sponsored by ALMM that provides funding for projects designed and implemented by Columbia Public School teachers.

PURPOSES  Enrich student learning experiences related to District curriculum  Improve students’ achievement  Involve and benefit students  Foster interdisciplinary instruction, enhance higher order thinking skills and/or support multi-age structures

APPLICATION AND DEADLINE  Proposals must utilize the electronic application form available at www.cpsk12.org \ Business Services \ Grants \ Links to Learning Program.  A proposal consists of a cover page, original application (not to exceed two pages) and itemized budget.  Applications must be signed by the building principal as an indication of support for the request. Signed applications must be submitted to the Business Services office located in the Aslin Building no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. Applications received after August 24, 2016 are not considered.

CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS  Applicants must be current, certificated Columbia Public Schools teachers. An applicant may submit no more than two proposals per year, either individually or in collaboration with other applicants.  To maintain anonymity in the selection process, identifying information such as school, mascot, principal and/or teacher names must NOT appear in Links to Learning original proposal or budget. Identifying information appears only on the cover page. Applications in violation of this requirement are disqualified from consideration.  The maximum amount that can be requested is $700.  The original proposal must include complete, clear and concise answers to each question listed on the electronic application.  The project title should appear at the top of each page of the original proposal and the budget form.  The itemized budget must include costs for supplies including resource materials, books and equipment; and purchased services such as fees and transportation. Include shipping and handling.  Materials and equipment funded by ALMM for the Links to Learning program are the property of the Columbia School District. All non-consumable items purchased with ALMM funds must be marked with an ALMM identification label and included in the school’s inventory.  Funding is not awarded for student prizes or rewards. Funding is awarded for food costs only when it is an integral part of the learning activity.  All projects must be implemented and completed during the 2016-2017 school year.  A one page Evaluation Report and Financial Documentation form must be submitted by each recipient no later than May 1, 2017.  In the event a recipient is unable to implement or complete a project, ALMM must be notified. The principal then may designate personnel to implement and/or complete the project.  Applications must be typed.

REVIEW AND SELECTION Applications are reviewed by the ALMM Links to Learning Allocation committee. Awards are announced in early fall. Below are the selection criteria:  Project enhances established District curriculum  Project enhances students’ higher order thinking skills  Objectives are measured and evaluated  Project involves interdisciplinary instruction  Number and description of students who benefit  Project is not currently funded by the district Cover Page

Proposal Title:

Reminders  No identifying information such as school, mascot, principal and/or teachers’ names should appear in the original proposal or itemized budget.  Provide complete, clear and concise responses to each section listed below.  Include the proposal title at the top of page 2 of the original proposal if using two pages.  Original proposals must not exceed two pages.

1. Write a one sentence summary of the proposal. Use the summary that appears on the cover page. This summary is used by ALMM in Links to Learning publications.

2. Explain the proposal for which funds are requested.

3. Describe the ways in which the purchased item(s) enhance student learning.

4. List the methods for achieving the proposal’s objective(s).

5. Explain specifically how the proposal is measured and evaluated. Objective must be measurable.

6.
