Outline the strategies you will employ in each of the following areas:
Equality & Diversity I will ensure that any resources used during the session are suitable for a wide range of groups of people to avoid any kind of exclusion. I will ensure that all learners have the opportunity to take part in the session and to put across their views. I will challenge and start a group discussion on any prejudicial/discriminatory behaviour.
Health & Safety I will assess the room before the start of the session to ensure that any obvious health and safety risks are addressed immediately. I will monitor the actions of all learners throughout the session to ensure that they do not behave in a way that may pose a risk to others. I will ensure that none of the activities that I plan to do with the learners pose a health and safety risk and will carry out a risk assessment if any activities for the session involve being outside of the college.
Sheila Cassidy-Allan – Unit 1 – Communication and Employability Skills for IT - SOW (2012-13) Additional Learning Support Where learners receive ALS within their normal classes, I will ensure that this ALS is present within the PPD sessions if the nature of the session demands the support of ALS for those learners.
Skills Development (e.g. Literacy, Numeracy, Learning and Employability) The learners will have to write reports and perform various calculations; the teaching environment will reflect the IT industry environment where possible.
