The conference will officially begin Monday, January 29, 2001, at 1:00 p.m. with the opening general session. For participants who choose to arrive early we have added five professional development pre-conference sessions to this year’s schedule in addition to the previously scheduled events. These events will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday and there is no additional fee to attend these pre-conference activities. The conference will conclude on Wednesday, January 31 at 12:00 noon. The conference will include three general sessions and a discussion of the upcoming 77th Legislative Session. Concurrent sessions will be presented by districts/campuses which are implementing programs/practices that support the conference theme and the needs of educators. Topics that will be presented are curriculum and instruction, literacy, assessment, staff development, technology, human resources, community relations, communications, planning, and/or business and finance issues.

In addition to the regular conference schedule, A Closer Look will take place in Ballroom A on Tuesday, January 30. At this time, Agency staff will conduct facilitated roundtable discussions and provide participants with individual assistance on specific topics. Lecture demonstrations will be conducted for hands-on investigation into the use of technology.

Brochures containing the schedule of activities, program topics and conference highlights will be mailed to your district in November. Conference programs will be available at the Austin Convention Center on January 29, 2001.
