The primary function of this position is to conduct preliminary office reviews for endangered species and coastal resources. These reviews focus on 500 environmental study forms and 1000 right-of-way permit requests that are used to obtain environmental clearance from the MDNR and USFWS each year. Reviews will require researching and compiling data on the biology and ecology of listed plant and animal species and their habitats. Information will be gathered from numerous online databases, GIS mapping applications, aerial maps and a variety of other ecological data sources. This information is then integrated with the proposed project by developing GIS constraint maps and written environmental clearance statements.
